Wondering why Earle didn't nail Hutchison's ass to the wall?
So was I, and google proved barely cooperative. But here's what I found:

The Case Against Kay
Last year, a grand jury was told tales about Texas' junior senator. Here's what they heard.
By Miriam Rozen

Published: Thursday, June 23, 1994

...

Then, on June 9, 1993, that suddenly changed. Four days after Hutchison's victory in the U.S. Senate runoff, McGehee, racked by guilt, went to the D.A.'s office with his stunning revelation: the newly elected U.S. senator had ordered the destruction of embarrassing state records. Burkett would later produce evidence of this: his tape, which he carted into a Travis County grand-jury room in a pizza box.

The two men told their story behind closed doors to the grand jury that would later indict Hutchison. But they never had a chance to unburden themselves in open court, before a trial jury in Fort Worth.

This February, during pretrial procedural wrangling, Judge John Onion announced that he would make no decision before testimony began on the admissibility of evidence --including material from the "pizza-box tapes" -- that Travis County District Attorney Ronnie Earle considered critical. If the trial began and Onion refused to let the jury see the physical evidence, Earle believed, it could torpedo his entire case. The D.A. made a fateful decision: he declined to move forward with the senator's prosecution. He later explained that he hoped to do so later, presumably before a more receptive judge.

Judge Onion, though, wouldn't give him that chance. Onion instead swore in a jury, then immediately ordered the panel to acquit the first U.S. senator from Texas ever to come under criminal indictment. The abrupt court-ordered acquittal left the voluminous evidence of exactly what it was that Hutchison did -- evidence that fills four walls of shelving in a locked, windowless room in the Travis County D.A.'s office -- largely hidden from public view.

...

Seems she had a little help...

2. That's not what AnnThrax Annie said...and we all know how faithful to the
truth SHE is :sarcasm: SHE said that Earle 'raided' Hutchison's (she said Hutchinson, can't even pronounce the name right, she's so dim) office and found nothing, and the investgation was dropped because Earle is of course, a Democrat partisan hack.
What rubbish.

3. Since DeLay has the same lawyer I wondered if that's why they waived
the statute of limitations. Do they want to force a quick trial before Earle can get his evidence lined up in the proper court again?

4. The 'Burkett' mentioned in this story ......
.... the same one who was trying to be Dan Rather's buddy? The tale of the tape in the pizza box made me wonder.

6. R. T. Burkett
On Friday, April 17, 1992 -- the day Post reporter Selby met with David Criss -- the sound of his beeper interrupted McGehee's lunch break. His supervisor, R.T. Burkett, told him to report to the office of Deputy Treasurer Bell. It was the beginning of McGehee's reluctant role as expediter in what prosecutors describe as Hutchison's attempt at a coverup.

8. more tidbits from famoustexans.com
http://www.famoustexans.com/kaybaileyhutchison.htm

In 1993, Hutchison and her team of attorney's - led by Dick DeGuerin, the $700-an-hour hotshot criminal lawyer and defender of Branch Dividian David Koresh - were fighting charges that she had abused her office as state treasurer. The evidence portrayed Hutchison as a termagant who verbally and physically abused her staff, including testimony that while in a tirade, she hit executive assistant Sharon Connally Ammann, the daughter of former governor John Connally, on the shoulder with a notebook binder. Another deputy had been Warren Idsal, the son-in-law of Hutchison's best friend and mentor, legendary ultra-right-wing Texan and Nixon adviser Anne Armstrong. She fired Idsal and later cited his removal as a threat to a frustrated staffer of her tough approach to personnel management. The evidence also showed she ordered a purge of backup computer tapes containing personal and political documents her executive staff produced for her. Conviction for the Nixon-like charges would have ruined her politically. Hutchison claimed the chief prosecutor, Travis County District Attorney Ronnie Earle, was part of a sinister conspiracy against her.

I also like this bit:
Ms. Hutchison has received $1.2 million in political contributions from the oil industry since becoming a senator. An attempt by Wisconsin Senator Russell Feingold to put that fact into the Congressional Record was ruled out of order by the Chair, who declared campaign finance was "not germane" in a debate about oil royalties. John McCain, Republican presidential candidate in the 2000 campaign, co-sponsored Feingold’s campaign finance legislation, but that did not stop him from casting the sixtieth vote required to end the filibuster and protect the oil subsidy. Hutchison declared, "It was a victory for America."

11. Another source for this story
http://www.famoustexans.com/kaybaileyhutchison.htm

Dallas Morning News and other MSM seem to have lost their older stories about this case.

Anybody notice that the lists of people Earl has indicted give pretty detailed info on most indictments but KBH's only says official misconduct.

I think we need to make some noise about this.
