Terrorists "do not need pretexts for their barbarism."
Edited on Thu Sep-29-05 12:45 PM by ClassWarrior
U.S. District Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein ordered the release of certain pictures, saying terrorists in Iraq and Afghanistan have proven they "do not need pretexts for their barbarism."

Seems to me that statement also shoots a hole through the lame argument that if we pull out of Iraq, we'll incite the terrorists.

1. bravo, class. A great argument.
I suspect that Juan Cole realized that as well. That explains his change in position.

It felt lonely, being against this invasion, and it got lonelier, as baghdad fell. When the Baghdad museum was ripped apart, what with 15,000 years of humanity's history, it was as though a stake pierced my heart. And then the european stories of new orphans, thousands of them, with their parents killed by our bombs.

With all of those WMD mountains being uncovered, people began to awaken from their 9/11 induced slumber. And now that the country is falling apart, more and more people take notice. The last stragglers, though, will argue that leaving now will cause damage. The judge's words are precisely on point.

2. Nothing they say makes sense on this
They say there is no way to reason with them. There is no way to pacify them. They want to kill us end of story and they won't stop until they have destroyed us and our way of life forever. But then then we can't even suggest that maybe we could fight a better war on terror because that will embolden the terrorists. WHAT!?!?!?!? I thought we couldn't do anything to change their thinking. I guess it would just take a little more tough talk to make the bad men go away? Words speak louder than actions if your a repuke.

4. In other words...
..."Since when do terrorists need an excuse to commit violence?"
