Diebold and election tampering could get harder for the GOP
I was posting to another thread and an idea started formin'in my 'ead.

Won't it be harder for the GOP to screw around with things from now on? Now that they are looking corrupt all over the place, won't the next few elections get much closer critical scrutiny than the last few? I mean, after Katrina, it seems like large chunks of the country and the media woke up and started looking around and saying, "Hey, wait a minute! These guys really ARE incompetent crooks!"

Won't that rub off on the election process, too? Since Dems have been screaming about how the GOP has stolen the last two elections and now the GOP has the political equivalent of bad breath, won't they be watched more closely?

1. OH YES
the first rule about the art of stealing elections is it must be considered FEASIBLE.......if you don't really know anyone except freeper nutcases who are supporting asshole republicans, the voting process that consistently rewards republicans would naturally fall under scrutiny

3. Let us hope all will have a stub confirming the vote - and that the
other types of voter suppression are closely monitored to the point where they become illegal again. Seems the old laws on voting were not specific enough for the GOP. Seems one needs to always show the idiots an itemized list of exactly what is voter suppression. Cause they refuse to read the intention of the laws.

4. Not unless our Democratic "Leaders" take more action then they have.
It looks to be a repeat as it stands now.

5. No, it won't make any difference, I'm afraid.

Look, as long as there are complicit media and polling orgs to help them out, we're fucked. The GOP doesn't pay attention to polling, because it doesn't make any difference to them. They know Diebold and Sequoia and ES&S will be there for them. It is only US, the sheeple, that pay attention to polls. Therefore, the only strategy they need to focus on is to come up with a grand new initiative (or other distraction) just prior to the election. Gallup will rig a new poll for them indicating a big bump in their numbers, which half of America will actually believe. The bump, like last time, won't need to take them over the top. Even better, like last time (and the occurence of which I wrote about a hundred times last election) is get the numbers within the MOE, make their margin razor-thin. So all the pundits can go on teevee and say "It's too close to call! It's anybody's race!" And then Diebold does its magic, and we're labeled whiny crybaby sore losers by the GOP spinmeisters and their lap-dog press.

"Prove it!" they'll say, and of course, we won't be able to, because Diebold's made everything secret, proprietary and non-tracable.

It is a brilliant con. It worked before and it will work again.

6. Well, then, that makes things much simpler...
And we can all go back to our day jobs. No more worrying about who will get the Democratic nomination for me!! It is inevitable that Republicans are going to win no matter what we do, so why bother??

I think I will take up gardening. I understand it is very soothing. And so productive!!

7. No, what it means is we need to focus energies on Diebold
Diebold is in crisis, and ripe for kneecapping. The CEO has consolidated all power within his office (too many secrets?) and shareholders are pissed. Their stock is tanking.

All I'm saying is that if we focus ALL our efforts on a perfect candidate, Diebold will still be there fine-tuning it's theft mechanisms. We need to be attacking on two simultaneous fronts, perfect candidate AND election theft.

If you're going to get "down" and depressed that easily, this isn't the fight for you, and maybe garndening is a better choice.

9. "Sarchasm- the distance between the sarcastic comment and
the person who doesn't get it."

No, I don't get down that easily, I get sacastic and BITCHY that easily. I have GOT to remember to add :sarcasm: to my posts. I just always think it is obvious and adding the little thing ruins the effect.

To me, it looked like YOU were saying that their win is inevitable. Maybe because you said that. Hey, I am all about knee-capping Republicans. That was sort of the point of my post. That maybe the climate is better now to get CRITICAL scrutiny for elections.

8. No,it means you need to be even more active and get Dems off their ass...

Hell most of our elected milque toast Dems poo-poo the very idea that voter fraud could go on in our wonderful country. They won't look into the matter or try and bring up an investigation. So,we just keep losing and losing.

10. The media is owned by a few corporations who
are benefiting from the current administration. Not sure of the large chunks of media coming on board. I think certain reporters cut loose during the first week or two after Katrina but have been reigned in.

When we have "news" men/woman like Tim Russert and Diane Sawyers and Cokie Roberts among too many others still peddling the Republican talking points, we do not a have free press.

13. Huh? "Tim Russert, Diane Sawyer and Cokie Roberts"??
I am not the most media savvy person on earth, so I could be wrong here, but I do not traditionally think of any of those people as hard hitting news people who are doing the right thing and holding this administration's feet to the fire.
