Now is the time for a POSITIVE message from the Democrats.
Yes, we need to have aggressive criticisms of the way the administration has handled, well, EVERYTHING.

On a national level, though, we need to start laying out a plan--as simple as: if Democrats can win a majority in Congress, this is what we will do.

It doesn't have to be specific; just talk about domestic issues that we all can identify with: gas prices, health care, education. Just start saying we WILL get us out of Iraq--the Republicans have no incentive to do so.

The country is more DISGUSTED with what is going on than anything, We need to criticize, yes, but more than anything, (pardon the shout) the DEMS NEED TO OFFER AN ALTERNATIVE.

And by all means, DON'T get overly specific, just have an outline to go by. Once we are in power, we can sketch out the details.

1. Yes it is, but...
It cannot reveal too much tactical strategy this early. You do not want to give the repuke oppo machine lots of time to tear it apart and make up its lies for the 2006 election cycle.

2. I hear you...
You know the Dems in the Senate have already drawn up legislation to help rebuild the gulf-states, and the Repigs haven't. They are the ones in the majority, and ought to have been offering a PLAN--we need to be screaming to the REPIGS----"Here's our plan, where's yours, and why won't you let ours be considered on the floor, etc etc, so the American people hear it. Same with all other issues. We need to have the plan in hand, ready for legislative action, and continue to show how the Repigs have no interest in helping America, and nationalize these elections.

3. It would be a good time to express what Democratic values are
Howard Dean talked about moral values a few months ago:

"It is a moral value to provide health care. It is a moral value to educate our young people. The sense of community that comes from full participation in our Democracy is a moral value. It is a moral value to make sure that we do not leave our own debts to be paid by the next generation. Honesty is a moral value."

I read a column a couple of weeks ago with 5 simple goals for the Democratic agenda, but I can't remember where I saw it. It was similar to Dean's values above.
