Newsweek: 39% see DeLay in serious wrongdoing; 73 % see GOP 'too close' to big business

New York- Thirty-nine percent of Americans believe that House Majority Leader Tom DeLay probably engaged in "serious wrongdoing," according to the new Newsweek Poll. When asked if Tom DeLay engaged in wrongdoing, or if this week's indictment was more likely a case of DeLay's political opponents wanted to embarrass him, 39 percent of those polled say DeLay was probably engaged in serious wrongdoing,

Americans believe that the GOP is too close to powerful groups according to the latest Newsweek Poll. Seventy-three percent of those polled believe that the Republicans are too closely affiliated with big business; 70 percent think they are too close to oil companies. Fifty-three percent of Republicans believe their party is too close to big business and 49 percent of Republicans believe the GOP is too close to oil companies.

their duty to serve the American people (all of the people) and the US Constitution. This link between the two should be publicized, shout it from the rooftops. It is a prime example of GOP party loyalty at the expense of the US.

6. Sorry to be a pessimist, but I don't think DeLay will be convicted.
Putting DeLay on trial in Texas would be like putting Al Capone on trial in Chicago for jaywalking.

Even if Molly Ivins somehow ended up on the jury, a DeLay crony would put out a contract to whack her.
