Bush sees progress in Iraq War Effort

On the IRAQ military
sez he:

"All Americans can have confidence in the military commanders who are leading the effort in Iraq, and in the troops under their command," Bush said. "They have made important gains in recent weeks and months; they are adapting our strategy to meet the needs on the ground; and they're helping us to bring victory in the war on terror."

Sez me:
rather than 5-8 battalions available, we have grown by incredible numbers in Iraq. From THREE available to fight and do battle, to, er, ah. . . . . . One.

sez general Casey:
Instability continues to grow across the country.

---------

On Iraqi families,

sez he:
Families are coming together in advance of the Oct. 15 election (VOA reported)

sez I:
yeah, there are fewer orphans, because 25 children died in attacks yesterday. Keep this up, and there won't be any orphans left.

-----

On security:
sez he:
"Our strategy in Iraq is clear," Bush said. "We're hunting down deadly terrorist leaders. We're conducting aggressive counterterrorism operations in the areas where the terrorists are concentrated.

sez I:
Which explains why US troops are under orders not to leave the Green Zone, except in overwhelming force, on missions. we are too much of a target otherwise.
Oh yes, with increasing numbers of deaths, IEDs and attacks even at the border of the Green Zone, this strategy of which shrub speaks seems hard to discern, much less describe.
