I thought we were done with DLC candidates. Jesus! Gore is even more conservative than Clinton.

I haven't read post one about Gore, have I missed something? Did he go and become a liberal? What???

1. Gore was always a liberal, Nader was just a damned lying piece of crap
Gore was at the forefront of every liberal trend now from labor to the environment. Some people just can't grasp the difference between what a politician wants to do and what they are actually able to do.

7. Oh please, this is nonsense
I'm not saying this to argue against the Gore 2008 idea, but just for the sake of history not being flushed down the toilet: Gore ran in 1988 very much as the first DLC candidate, a hawkish pro-military Democrat who was expected to appeal in the South. "Super Tuesday," basically a Southern regional primary, was put in place specifically to benefit Gore. Instead it benefitted Jesse Jackson, to the rueful amusement of Bill Clinton, who was head of the DLC at the time. As senator he was hardly "at the forefront" of labor issues; his interest was in relatively arcane high-tech matters.

14. Quick! In the closet! Under the bed! It's the DLC Boogeyman.
Jesus christ, give it a rest.

Gore campaigned for the south in 1988, with partial success, so of course he did so from a southern perspective. That's no more the defining characteristic of Gore's work than JFK's support of McCarthyism .

He wrote the best seller that popularized the environmental movement.

As for those "archane high-tech matters..." Internet, hybrid cars... Yeah, real obscure stuff.

Fascinating OP, hmmm.

Al Gore=conservative.

I'll have to ruminate on that one. Can you provide links to back up your assertion? MKJ

11. So now you're saying Gore=coward No links provided yet to
Back up your claims of Gore being conservative, so now you bring out a new accusation.

You "remember" his rep as being more conservative. Please provide more than just your memory if you're going to make that assertion.

Thanks. MKJ

6. Gore more conservative than Clinton?!?
No way! Gore is a liberal. Always has been. What's even more important is that Gore is a forward thinker - he doesn't only concern himself with the here and now, but with the future and all the possibilities it holds.

I believe that he would have been a great President. I hope he gets the chance some day. :-)

8. Politely reduce the effusion this way
Gore is still a decent principled and courageous dem. He also is unlikely to be able to deal the Bush menace as any other contender. In that so many are crippled in this way does not make Gore better than before or the necessary choice of lesser losers.

I'm sorry, but we need someone to defeat extremism not follow the old gameboard and the old pious myths even the facts are starkly clear and absolutely a clear and present danger to everything. This is to take nothing away from Gore or his loyal admirers. It just is something to shrug off as easily as the media still does. Just as all should shrug off the idiotic or nefarious MSM promotion of Hillary as the next Sucker Loser in Chief of the Democratic party.

We can be brutal about the vital requirement at this time for a leader able to win this war. As for picking at the DLC scabs on the party, the unnecessary, anti-populist bastardization of the party for pragmatic, prudent purposes that corruption is best laid at the feet at the core of the DLC philosophy and non-com functionaries. A lot of decent Democratic leaders are lined up on that road to nowhere, but it is going nowheres. The time for compromise with greed and deceit has been ended by the other side. The game is over.

At least I think the Gore followers here remember the sincerely populist Gore before he was swamped by bad advice and betrayal. The Clark and Kerry people have voiced the same emotions and who can blame them with the comparative horror tyrannizing us now?

compared to Clinton.

Clintons sycophancy with the Bush crime family has completely turned me off to him.

12. People like to shout "Focus on 2006 !!!!".....
...except when it's THEIR preferred candidate being promoted.

Then, of course, it's "Rah-Rah-Gore!"..."Rah-Rah-Hillary!"..."Rah-Rah-whomever"...

13. Well, if one is going to post anti-whatever candidate information
one would be best served by presenting facts rather than making it up. (see OP)

It seems that since gwb's numbers tanked and the indictments are coming, there are more posters on DU trying to nix any democratic candidate that might be viable in 2008. MKJ
