Is Miers even admitted to practice before the Supreme Court? |
|
For many years a Certificate of Admission to practice before the Supreme Court was a souvenir lawyers brought back from trips to D.C. Later you had to have business before them. Can't remember when the rule changed, I'm thinking in the 1970's.

1. I was admitted to the DC Bar |
|
in 90 and as I recall, all you had to do was pay $200 to be admitted to practice before the SC. I haven't practiced in dc for years .

...of course, if Bush wanted to, he could appoint me to the SC, and I've never been inside a courtroom except for my first divorce! :)
There's no constitutional requirement that a nominee be a judge, a lawyer, or anything else, aside from "...shall hold their Offices during good Behavior."
