"Iraq Veteran Paul Hackett To Announce US Senate Campaign ...

Paul Hackett, the Iraq veteran who recently ran for Congress as a Democrat in the special election from Ohio's second district, will announce his campaign for the U.S. Senate. Hackett, a father of three and practicing Cincinnati lawyer, volunteered for the Iraq War in 2004 while serving in the Select Marine Corps Reserve. He spent seven months in Ramadi and Fallujah.

Paul Hackett is expected to announce he is running for U.S. Senate in the third week of October."

5. Oh, be still my heart!!!
I hope he leads a great influx of Democratic Iraq vets to DC with the November 2006 election.

As of now, we have a few running for congress in Texas, too.

6. Is he running for DeWine's seat?
I don't know much about politics in Ohio. Does Hackett have enough appeal to win the primary?

7. There won't be
Much of a primary. There may be one or 2 guys who may run but expect Hackett to win the Dem primary with atleast 80% of the vote. The question is can he beat Dewine, and I definetely think he can.

8. My mother in law is from Ohio
and she was delighted!!!!!! She said she will go door to door for him, but since she lives in a highly Repuke dstrict, she said she would walk to let everyone know what a great guy Hackett is and remind everyone what an ass Dewine is, basically walk as an independent.

10. Brown supposedly running
The Pee Dee ran a story today saying Sherrod Brown was considering running for the Senate seat again.

My guess is that big labor doesn't like Hackett and wants Sherrod to run, even if it means losing his seat to Repubs.

Seems strange that Sherrod would consider doing this. Sounds like the Pee Dee is trying to push him into it.
