This is a stupid, silly, shallow observation...but it has never stopped me
before...

The thing that struck me about Miers and Roberts both is that they are the SMILINGEST people I have ever seen. Who the hell really smiles that much? I know that it is a stupid and petty observation, but I haven't found one picture of this woman yet where she does not have this vapid, servile, June Cleaver smile on her face. It is like she is the Joker and that damn smile is frozen in place. The impression I get is that it is almost a self-deprecating, "sorry I am a woman" kind of smile. I am sure I am just reading stuff into it because I don't want to like her on any level. Robert's did manage to take the smile off his face for parts of his confirmation hearings, maybe Miers will, too.

1. Some people smile for the camera
I know I do -- my mother always said you look better when smiling.

Maybe it's just her natural instinct to do so.

Not that it makes me feel any better about her.

5. I really hate personal attacks, but, but....
but if I were being nominated for the Supreme Court I'd have a weird smile too !

Also, those of us ladies in our 50's/60's know not to put eyeliner on our lower lids anymore! Makes our eyes drooppier.

Ms. Miers is an attractive lady for her age, I wish DU would cut her some slack !

6. I actually thought she looked fine for a lady of her age...
but I started to look around for pics of her and in every one I saw, she had the same slightly chin-dipped smile on her face which seems almost embarrassed.

when I'm sixty. Crap, that's next year :banghead:

I just wish we (DU generic) wouldn't choose such personal talking points, I'd like to learn more about HER ! :hi:

13. I had most of the day 'off' and have spent it on here reading
serious posts about Miers. I think I was just due for something superficial and silly.

7. Maybe it's kinda like winning the lottery for them.
If I suddenly had that much power, I'd probably be smiling like an idiot, too.

8. Hers is the smiling response to the "when are you going to get
married?" question that has been locked into place from overuse.

10. BINGO! That is exactly what kind of smile it is...almost apologetic.
"No, mom, I haven't met anybody new. Yes, mom, I am still working for George. No, mom, he doesn't show any signs of leaving Laura...."
