Flags half-staff for 30 days for Rehnquist!
Just on Newshour.

What arrogant pricks.
The guidelines are very specific.
10 days for VP, Chief Justice (active or retired).

This may be a tad picky but half-staff is one of the most solemn traditions in this country we used to have.

BTW I am not a flag freak. This just bothers me.

1. and how long was it for the freaking Pope?
Maybe that wasn't 'official', but I swear, the flag was at half staff for the head of a foreign state FOREVER.

Not as long as for Reagan, I suppose. But, at least I understand Reagan.

8. got a link for this?
Cause the official proclamation from the WH called for flags to be flown at half-staff for Rehnquist for the standard 10 days:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2005/09/20050904-3.html

Can't find any evidence to the contrary.

9. Woman on Newshour said that Robert's first day (today) was
the first day flags had been full-staff since the old bastard checked out (actually, she did not use those exact words).

10. As long as they are upside down too
Edited on Mon Oct-03-05 09:36 PM by zulchzulu
I'd be for that. Actually, all American flags should be half-mast AND upside down for the remainder of the Bush administration.

12. Now that is funny
Having had a run-in (strictly experimental) with Placidyl back in the 60's I was just foored when I read about Rehnquist and that drug.
