So it looks like DeLay may get life in a Texas prison... |
|
Huntsville Texas for life. All because he couldn't keep his cheating lying mouth shut and tried to go back on the deal he made regarding the statute of limitations. How stupid is he? He could have had no jail time and just slither away but no...he's so arrogant and full of himself, so convinced of his own lies that he had to stir things up and get himself two brand new indictments with a new grand jury. I am so glad Mr.Earle knows who is dealing with and was ready for DIRTY DeLay to NOT KEEP the deal he made.
I am laughing my ass off right now. Life in our Huntsville Texas prison. There isn't a death penalty for money laundering or conspiring to launder money is there?

3. He cannot be "constitutionally" pardoned. That's how I |

understand it. Are you aware of something different?

5. For state offenses he can be pardoned by the governor |

for federal offenses by the president, he is covered
And on add... the money laundering charge looks to me as a federal charge... even though it was a state attorney, it looks like an old fashioned RICO
And yes, if he is convicted I am betting the ranch on a pardon, even if a year or two after the fact and that is the best case we can expect... they cannot let the architect of K Street go to jail.

6. As long as he gets convicted |
|
in Tx. of a Tx. crime, any pardon would have to come from the Governor. Now, based on all these dead Texans who got the death penalty, I'd say that the Gov. traditionally does not show a good track record for granting pardons. I don't know how the Gov. could look himself in the eye if he didn't grant a pardon to a person who had newly discovered DNA evidence pointing to actual innocence but did grant a pardon to someone who turned the Texas vote upside down by illegal purchases of influence made with corporate "contributions." Will he do a day in jail? If he does, I bet it isn't half so much fun as riding around in one of those exterminator trucks with the big ole cockroach sitting jauntily on the roof.

wish. Life is reserved for much more serious crimes...such as treason...like the ones bush/Cheney/et al have committed. Delay is just an evil political crook...not a traitor. Come to think of it...he's guilty by association.

"Culture of Corruption" is deeply embedded now but I am sick of people saying that these criminals won't be punished. I don't know if he'll go to jail or not...as someone else posted he has to be convicted first; what I do know is that I MUST BELIEVE that things can change. I MUST BELIEVE that good can overcome evil. I MUST BELIEVE that these criminals are NOT ABOVE THE LAW. I MUST BELIEVE that this "Culture of Corruption" has come to an end. IF I DO NOT BELIEVE IT, IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN AND IF NOTHING CHANGES, THEN NOTHING CHANGES. WE MUST ALL GET OVER THIS ERA THAT WE HAVE BEEN SUBJECTED TO. WE MUST BELIEVE THAT THE LAW IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA WILL PREVAIL. For the first time in five years things are happening, positive things for us...and nobody believes that it matters, that anything will change. I TELL YOU THAT IS DANGEROUS AND DEFEATIST. I can't change anyone else, but I don't intend to suffer under this criminal government for the rest of my born days. I mean no offense to anyone. I am just so sick of the negative, powerless, hopeless, despairing crap when obviously some things are changing. Believe me when I say "change gonna come." It's coming now if only we will believe in it. I know it's hard, we've been kicked badly since 2000 and we all know corruption didn't just begin in 2000 but truly we have to believe first.
