as being moderate? I have watched it happen twice. Bush nominates a nobody and, since noone has anything to say immediately, the media declares the candidate a moderate who conservatives oppose and liberals demure.

In the first instance, it created a perception that Roberts might actually be fair minded. We have truly no reason to believe this and an abundance of reasons to believe otherwise.

The Dems, at a minimum, should be screaming about how Bush picks unexperienced people, whether to head FEMA or to sit on the Supreme Court!
