2. God, country, family
Edited on Tue Oct-04-05 12:47 AM by firefox
There used to be some priority phrase the church crowd used to say thirty years ago like "God, country, family". Your comment is insightful. It is an idea that most will never think of because the media will not present it.

3. Do we know she is a fundie?
I saw S. Methodist. - not nessesarily a fundie.

A fundie would be incapable of rational thought - ergo- unable to be impartial.

We do know that she is NOT QUALIFIED for the position. But the fundie-ness I'm unsure about.

Let's just say - SHE'S UNQUALIFIED!!!!!

5. But, remember - prior to the Iraq invasion, over 100 Meth. ministers
rallied together and attemped to get an audience w/ b*sh? They believed the action was immoral and unjustified. They were denied.

b*sh has as much religion in his body as I have in my pinky - and I'm am atheist.

6. Recently a progressive blog posited a question that no sitting Dem...
would have the courage to ask.

It was essentially this, transformed for the current nominee. Since abortion is against the doctrine of the nominee’s position, but her duties may require the support of Roe vs. Wade, is she willing to forsake her religion in exchange for upholding RvW, or will she apply her evangelical views regardless of legal principle?

More coarsely put, is she willing to go to hell for RvW, or is she a liar when she claims impartiality?

Don’t hold your breathe waiting for anyone on the Judiciary committee to ask this one, however.

Does that mean that you think I can't be impartial?

14. Could a religious person who believes in god be impartial...
... In matters of separation of church and state, and freedom FROM religion issues?
How about abortion?

I think it's possible, but the biggest concern I have is that she is grossly incompetant at best. And far too close to the Bush clan, at worst.

23. So we should only have atheists on the bench?
I'm a Catholic who believes very strongly in the seperation of church and state if for no other reason than Catholics themselves have persecuted and been persecuted when church and state are joined.

You mean similar to the thinking with JFK as president when the question was if the President would end up taking orders from the Vatican?

16. I would read the New testament if I were you. Some of us who are
Christian or bible believers who are also very much Liberal, can be that way because we understand and know what the Lord's position is on government. The only reference that deals with Jesus and the Government is when he was approached and questioned about "paying taxes" Jesus response was to give the government what belongs to the government and to God (your heart) what belongs to God.The notion that our nation was meant to be a Christian Nation came from the same "quacks" who stole this country from the Native Americans. It is a man made ideology. The Bible, the way I understand it, particularly,The New Testament, does not promote taking over a nation and declaring it by force. We are saved by the blood of Christ, not The Legislation passed down from the United States of Ahypocrita.

17. Does anyone really expect
Do we really expect anyone Bush nominates to be impartial? What do we expect? We expect Bush to put forth these Stealthy Far Right Wing Wackos. These extremist lunatics, who will wipe twice with the Constitution before ruling on civil Liberties cases every day.

We would hope our elected leaders would oppose this, however we know from the last couple years, they will not obstruct anything. I am waiting for Senator Reid to come out in favor of destroying ANWR, after all he has been so supportive of so many of Bush's policies.

We got Rodgers-Brown on the bench, a woman who thinks that civil rights are un-necessary. We got anti-choice far right wing extremist cronies of Bush. Guess who will be deciding when Jeb sues to get appointed President? Bush Cronies all the way up, thus setting us up for the Bush Trifecta.

May God show some mercy, and protect the intellectuals on the court, because if we lose Ginsburg, our nation is doomed.

The Bushies took away private property rights with Kelo, what will they take next?
