LAT: Miers Comes From Deep Within Bush Inner Circle
WASHINGTON -- From the beginning of George W. Bush's presidency, his professional life has been so closely intertwined with Harriet Miers' that some White House insiders jokingly refer to her as the president's "work wife." And she was the lawyer that Bush trusted to handle some of his most sensitive and important tasks, even before he entered the Oval Office.

(snip)

As governor of Texas, Bush chose her to take over a financially troubled state lottery commission. When questions arose in the 2000 presidential campaign about favoritism in the Texas Air National Guard, Bush tapped Miers to assess the dimensions of the problem.

After they left Texas for Washington after the 2000 presidential election, Miers assumed such an insider role that in 2001 it was she who handed Bush the crucial "presidential daily briefing" hinting at terrorist plots against America just a month before the Sept. 11 attacks.

(snip)

Bush has called her "a pit bull in size 6 shoes." Presenting her with a legal award, he quipped that "when it comes to a cross-examination, she can fillet better than Mrs. Paul." During visits to Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas, she has been known to grab a chain saw and help clear brush.

1. Ick!
I'd give this an 'ick factor' of 11 (on a scale of 1 to 10).

3. I don't know.I have to take some things into consideration.She is a
single female woman who worked her whole life, never been married, does not depend on some man to tell her what to do.She seems more like she can relate to a liberal woman more than a conservative women.I mean, the Republicans, aka fake christians, think that a woman out to be married, have a "head" over her. She obviously does not think that a MAN completes her and on the Supreme Court, she answers to NO ONE.All those years of catering to "others views" she now has finally been set free? Her term is for the rest of her life.No one can tell her what to do.also. before you say, 'Oh, but she's 60 years old and set in her ways" I say Nonsense...She is a woman. We are genetically engineered with the ability to adapt to life's changes. So,I think we have a Justice O'connor.I'm happy. One more thing to mention. She SOMETIMES attends a NON DENOMINATIONAL Church.Think about that. That describes us liberals more than it does republicans.

8. She's another Clarence Thomas
Whichever way Scalia votes, that's the way she'll vote. The woman has no mind of her own. These people are robots. They follow the Cult.

10. I kind of suspect it's "mommies"

rather than wives, at least from his side.

I don't even want to think it might be both.

6. in a time of great crisis
one naturally gathers together those people who can be trusted implicitly. Maybe * ,and those who wind his spring up in the morning, know that the situation is getting soooo bad that desperate measures are gonna be necessary. So desperate that only unquestioning sycophants can be expected to do what they are going to be asked to do...

I suppose it's equally possible that his nominee is the bestest possible candidate for one of the difficulist jobs out.

11. Geesh, how times have changed.
Remember how the MSM used to sneer about the "FOB's"? How they hounded Vince Foster literally to death?

But now it's all this glowing praise of the "loyalty" of the inner circle.

Bah. :puke:
