The Difference Between Us And Them
Cross-posted over at DEMbloggers.com

Most of you know that there is a fundamental difference in the way that the GOP and the Dems respond to disasters but putting these two pictures side by side really points out that difference.

For those of you who don't know, the picture on the left is Bush strumming his guitar while New Orleans drowned. The photo on the right is Bill Clinton meeting with the victims of Katrina. Unlike Bush, Clinton didn't go to the gulf for a photo-op but instead to discuss the problems and the needs of the real victims.

It's interesting to note that when a Democrat goes down to the gulf he actually meets with the real victims of the hurricane instead of touring through a middle class neighborhood of "tidy ranch homes" that was only grazed by hurricane Katrina.

The photo of Clinton talking with the victims of hurricane Katrina is something that Bush can never do. Bush was on vacation while the city was blasted by Katrina and Bush's overall response has been disastrous.

Maybe I'm just nostalgic for a real leader in the White House who cares about his people. On second though, that might be too much to ask for with the GOP in control.

3. Knowing Clinton, someone probably gave him the bracelet while he was...
touring the area. He's the kind of person who'd actually put it on just to make the person who gave it to him feel good.

2. I just don't understand why more people don't see this. Are so many...
people really so upset about abortion rights, gay rights and taxes that they're willing to let our country die through the mishandlings of the current people who control our government? I know that it probably sounds hyperbolic, but our country is extremely sick right now and many people don't really care, it seems. Maybe they won't realize it until it's too late. I wonder how close to "too late" we are right now...
