Cheney calls Pigboy Limbaugh to assure "base" that Miers is A-OK

Spoiling the party
Bush's nomination of Harriet Miers, a loyalist with a mediocre résumé and no legal track record, leaves the left cautious -- and the right furious.

By Michael Scherer

http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2005/10/04/miers/index.html

By midday, Vice President Dick Cheney even called into Rush Limbaugh's radio show to offer assurances. "You'll find when we look back 10 years from now that it will have been a great appointment," Cheney told Limbaugh and his millions of listeners. "You'll be proud of Harriet's record, Rush. Trust me."

1. I hate the repubs, I hate what they have done to our country
but I really don't think it is fair to show a 59 year old woman's face up close to imply something about her personality. C'mon, put the camera on Bush's face, but at least leave this lady's appearance alone. Please???

18. I think she looks harmless
Aged femininity, even motherly. She devoted herself to doing what she does best - lawyering. I have no animosity towards her. Accepting the position and thrust Brownie-like to the SCOTUS is where I have problems.

I study faces for a living as an artist. Her eyes are quite revealing.

26. Zell Miller is Rabid as well as...
Nutzo, whacked, betwitched, Pyscho...this lady just looks slightly daft in a stilted sort of way that a harmless addled granny might elicit.

7. I have to agree with you.
I don't care what the person looks like, just as long as they are honest, competent and wise. I'd nominate someone who looks like Jabba the Hut if they met that criteria.

19. There os an old saying.......All's Fair in Love, War & Politics.
When you aspire to public service, either as an elected official, an appointed official or whatever, you know that you will have opponents who will do thair damndest to keep you from getting whatever job you seek and by going ahead, you accept that risk.

When it comes to the Supreme Court, we must take a very close look at the nominee.....a microscopic look at him or her. If the nominee is a woman with aging problems, well, thats the way it goes. Our standard of life and the state of this nation is far too important for us to worry about her mascara or pancake makeup. In fact, in this case....her makup is the least problem as I see it. I am more worried about her being "Born Again" and if approved, how that aspect of her life will affect us.

Besides which, 10 years from now there will be other priorities beyond supreme court decisions.

Edited on Tue Oct-04-05 08:43 PM by Patsy Stone
over this and didn't it seem like a good time to bury them? Cheney's answer: "We're trying."

Nice.

ed: because the phrase was "losing it". Bleccch.

8. Yeah, that Cheney is a real sweetheart, isn't he?
Let's remember that quote of his to Rush when Cheney drops dead because his so-called heart gives out and we're all doing the happy dance at DU.

9. I smell desperation.
CHENEY called that fat, lying, drug-addled pied piper, begging for approval!?!?

HOW PATHETIC!

Really. That's pretty sad when you have the vice president of the United States calling some Oxycontin slurping extremist radio show host trying desperately to rally the approval of the most fringe and most extremist wackadoo faction of the "base."

29. Did ya notice the wink, wink, nudge, nudge today
I did and it's creepy me out. What this administration is saying to their hard core righties is "sssshhhhhh!!! Don't worry, we got it covered!" From Bush's born again lingo "I know what's in her heart." to Cheney's little heart to heart with Limpballs. And then there is Dobson with this "I know a secret and it's all good" crap.

Shit people........I got a bad feeling after today.
