We need someone who will speak up and fire up this population. Someone who speaks with words that inform, ring true and that we can act upon. Just how much blubber can we absorb from this self-centered administration. We hear lies, exaggerations and half truths, given to us in half sentences(or no sentence) by those in power. I'm either angry or amused whenever I hear somebody from the **** group of cronies spout the latest bunch of baloney. All Washington as become is a place to "work"...an not too hard at that. You know that if any of us did a days work to be compared with out politician friends, it would be laughable. THey wouldn't make it to lunch. Where are the movers and shakers of old? I cannot pick put any real strong, vocal voice for the people. I'm still waiting for Dean to take center state, what is taking him so long to get up and pound away at the corruption and ineptitude now in service to us. How many more e-mails, letters, phone calls, can we do? After a point I wonder is these actions have any effect at all. Where are the outraged Democrats, how come I can't hear them?

2. I respect Maxine Waters and Dennis Kucinich, and I respect your opinion...
But I disagree. I truly revere Barbara Jordan. There is no one in this generation of congress-critters that approaches her in talent, wisdom or strength. She had an ability to transcend labels at a time in American politics when black women politicians were nobodies.

When Barbara Jordan spoke, it might as well have been God issuing commandments.

I voted for Jimmy Carter in 1976, somewhat reluctantly because I thought he was too conservative. I depended on my certainty that he HAD to make Ms Jordan Attorney General because she so clearly deserved it. I never liked Jimmy nearly so much after he appointed that old prig Griffin Bell instead of Rep Jordan.

I'm heartbroken to say, I don't believe we'll ever see her equal. Thats really sad for you younger guys.

3. We have one already
She is my adopted Congressperson

Sheila Jackson Leigh

She even sounds a bit like Barbara Jordan and she is total class, just like Barbara.

6. just north of Houston, TX
My real congressman is Republican Kevin Brady, but he's just a brainless Bushbot.

I've met Sheila a few times, and she is fine with being my adopted Congressperson.

She is very intelligent and serious minded. Holds her Democratic ground well without stooping to partisan bickering.

I urge anyone who doesnt have a good Congressman to adopt one. While you cannot vote for them, you can stll support them with your donations and your time.

7. Only occasionally in history does someone like Barbara Jordan show up.
She was beyond awesome (I know that word is overused, but some people are difficult to describe without that adjective).

Barbara Jordan used to build a fire under me that has still not died out. In fact, she is probably the reason I became a die-hard liberal. She was a class act that has had no competitor since.

Mind you, there are some Dems that I truly love and support totally, as they fight the current unwinnable battle. But Barbara Jordan had the "stuff" that made her words, and her life, a great contribution to our society and our history.

I miss her still. Especially now.
