Chimp to make "major" speech tomorrow on Iraq
Scotty announced it at today's press conference, and MSNBC just mentioned it as well... no time given.

According to Scotty, "specifics" will be given about WHY we are in Iraq and the "Progress" we are making... bla, bla, bla... yak, yak, yak.

Yes, he is still pitching his war to a disinterested public. His motrivations? To remind us that he is the "Bullhorn President"? To rally his base? To change the subject from the growing controversy about Miers? All of the afore-mentioned?

1. What? To justify his insistence on the right to use torture?
As long as he threatens to veto a bill because it prohibits TORTURE, for God's sake.... he has nothing to say to me.

2. The poll numbers must be worse than the officially released results
if they are putting him on the air twice in a week - not that it seems to help, but I guess they feel they need to give it a try.

8. the only thing the pretender could say that I want to hear is a firm
timetable for withdrawal and an admission of guilt for causing this "greatest strategic error in the history of the United States." I don't care to hear "it's hard," "stay the course" or any other of the bullshit bush* warmongering platitudes. This and his criminal entourage have no relevancy or legitimacy. Save your speech. I really don't care.

9. He sure does love to interrupt TV programming on Thursdays.
I really doubt that the major networks will carry it now that the new TV season has started.

11. Good...
His poll numbers have risen about 3 points. It's about time to give another "major" speech. His numbers always fall after these speeches.

18. my theory: Chimpy's new marketing strategy
I think Chimpy may try to pitch a new idea: he will tie the War on Terror to the price of gas/the availability and future of the petroleum market.

Since his poplularity began to suffer with the increase in gas prices, he will make the case the democray in the Middle East will somehow ensure our access to their most important natural resource, oil. He will have amnesia about WMD, of course, and speak as though achieving democracy is the war Americans bought into from day one.

21. Isn't this like Bush's 6th "major" speech on Iraq this year?
How well did the others work out?

The only "major" speech will be the one where he says he is bringing the soldiers home. Or established a timetable for withdrawl. All other speeches are more of the same.

22. Well that only means that indictments are a-coming!
Since there is nothing new to say will the Networks get some spine and refuse to show a blatantly political speech? They haven't in the past.
