DUer Blazes The "Be The Media" Trail To Portland, Oregon Election Summit
Edited on Wed Oct-05-05 06:07 PM by althecat
Hi GD Politics...

After writing a stunning expose about the humidity interrupting the count in the Hackett Ohio special election The Veteran Of Fallujah Defeated By OH's Humidity. DUer Autorank has been doing some more writing for Scoop about US election shenanigans at the National Summit to Save Our Elections .

This is a wonderful example of a DUer taking up the challenge to be the media. As it turns out most of the other media present at the conference (the second Election Reform gathering of this kind this year) were there to present and not report on events.

At present the two reports linked below are the only two reports of proceedings out there (so far as I know).... no doubt more will follow shortly.

Autorank says he had a great time and if you have any questions would I am certain be very keen to impart more about what went on.

4. Thanks, Scoop and autorank, for covering this important Summit
I was tickled to be there and to meet autorank, emlev, amaryllis and Guvworld; and to see demodonkey, JohnGideon, BradBlog, KipHumphrey and other fine DUers.

Kicked and nominated.

11. It was an honor to meet you Fly by night. You're the progenitor of
the elections conferences. Among the many reasons I went to Oregon was my promise that after missing the Nashville "Gathering" I would go to the next conference. Portland is a great place and it was a great conference.

8. From Autorank's piece on...
...the Hackett-Schmidt race in Ohio this summer:

------------
How is it that in Clermont, Hackett won 38 of the smallest 137 precincts of and 0% of the 54 largest precincts? This fails an initial reasonableness test and calls out for further investigation. The humidity crisis that occurred in Clermont as the race was dead even raises questions. Did the closeness of the race surprise someone? Was it time to say “Let’s stop the process and rethink things here – maybe we’ll actually lose”? We are still waiting for time-stamped data on which of the 100 precincts were counted prior to the humidity crisis and which after.
-------------

How long should it take to produce the time stamped data showing exactly what precincts were counted before the humidity incident and what ones after? I think it's taking so long because they have to falsify the data and somehow make it look credible. The only other alternatives are to not release it at all, in which case they need a very compelling reason. Or they can release the actual time stamp records unaltered, which would make the election fraud glaringly obvious. They've placed themselves in a precarious position that suggests lack of forethought. I don't think they anticipated the closeness of this race. I think they got surprised, and got sloppy. This is one election result investigators should be especially aggressive and persistent in pursuing.

9. Your observations are telling.
This one was just -too- strange and, at the same time, to formula. "Texas hold 'em" comes to mind. I hope the article serves as a road map for a closer look.

Excellent points Mr_Jefferson_24!

13. What an inspiring report!!
:loveya: Althecat....I have such a crush on you!!! :applause:

That's a great report, and I wish every person who cares enough to go to an anti-war demonstration would similarly go to an "anti-privatized election" demonstration! We need every activist on this we can get!

Of late, I've been really discouraged at the number of coordinated, organized DUer threads by people saying that we are all tinfoilhatters for believing the elections have been stolen and that there has been "no proof" ( ! ), or that we are somehow trying to "discourage" people from voting by bringing up this issue. The most disheartening part is that some DUers are buying that b.s.

The opposition is obviously well-organized, well paid, and devious. I will not quit until this election problem is cleared up.

If it takes a revolution... then it just does. But I will NOT give up my right to have my vote count without a HUGE fight.

Every other issue we are concerned about turns on this ONE thing. And I'm fearful for 2006, because there is still so much to do.

Thank you ALL (at the convention) for what you're doing! I wish I could have gone. The only reason I didn't, is because I have spent so much time unemployed under the republican economy that I have had to simply stay put at this job. But about 8 months from now, I'll be free to go to ALL of the voter activist conventions!!! :hi: And I REALLY look forward to meeting all of my heroes in this fight there!!

Big hugs and lots of kisses to all those fighting for our right to have our votes counted!!!
