3. Oh no, he DIDN'T. Did he?
So we have to stay in Iraq because he let Osama get away?

"America would be less safe with bin Laden in control of Iraq"
Yeah, he might attack New York and Washington for example....

6. He also included Zarqawi...
...and he posed the question as more or less of a guilt trip...I'll have to post it on DU when the transcripts are released. It went something like "If we pull out of Iraq, we will have to ask if America will be more or less safe with Zarqawi and bin Laden in control of Iraq"...

So it was a "stealth reference" to bin Laden. He very matter-of-factly slipped it in, because in his mind, 9/11 and the invasion / occupation of Iraq all happened on the same playing field.

:grr:

20. Saddam kept Bin Laden and his followers OUT OF IRAQ FOR YEARS.
Bush WANTED Bin Laden to go into Iraq and WANTED Islamic extremists to control it so he could have his excuse for perpetual holy war that translates into BIG DEFENSE DOLLARS for all his cronies.

9. Fear??
Was this another attempt to scare us? Fear has always worked
in the past to boost his poll numbers. I always have to laugh
when Bush starts trying to sound like an orator. But I
usually ending up laughing till I cry. . .

11. This is the second speech in a weeks time...
This is beginning to look like the boy who cried wolf. If he is or thinks he is telling the truth, no one is believing him but diehard repubs, people who don't want to be wrong, people who believe he is a good christian man who can do no wrong or people who are going to believe him or no matter what right or wrong and they know it, they just hate Dems. Every speech sounds the same he practices his speech before hand and tries to read it with a lot of emotion, then he stumbles on some of the words and flips the page and gets back on script.

it was then, as it is still today, just an excuse to topple Saddam and retain control of Iraq.

Hmmm...I wonder why he would do that?

17. We should ask ourselves why this scenario is even on the table.
Bush failed to catch Osama in Afghanistan, in fact we knew where he was, and we sent warlords to get him.

Iraq was in the firm grip of Saddam Husain, he would have never allowed anyone control over Iraq, the only reason this is even an option is because we went there. There was ZERO, NONE, NADA, ZIP chance that Osama would have gained control of Iraq with Saddam in power. This is in fact our doing.

You did not catch him when you had a chance, and you flung the doors of Iraq open for the terrorist to get in.

Mr. Bush, your words ring hollow when it is because of your failures that this is even possible. You are the reason Iraq is a disaster, You are the reason we did not catch Osama, and You are the reason why your poll numbers suck.

The lies have worn thin, You are a failure, as a leader, as a president, as a man.

35. Maybe he wants the sheeple to believe that Bin Laden
was the one in control of Iraq before and that's why we had to invade. The sheeple confuse easily and I'll bet alot of them already think that.

He's betting that enough people are stupid and uninformed enough to buy it enough to get his poll numbers back up. It probably won't have much of an effect unless the media take it up as a talking point. They may not be as inclined to cover Chimpy's ass as they have been in the past.

36. So by that logic, Iran is even a bigger threat to US because
Edited on Thu Oct-06-05 08:21 PM by tandoori
Iran already is an islamic state and has oil money and has nuclear
knowhow. Iraq under Saddam was NOT a fundamentalist islamic state.
It was closer to a secular autocratic regime.

As usual Bush-logic is oh so convoluted, but then consider the source.
