I have always assumed that Rove is the "Big Fish". But if he is just a medium sized fish and the big fish is Bush or Chaney his testimony before the GJ makes a whole lot of sense - it could mean he has "turned" to save his big fat ass. What happens then? Would the Republican Congress impeach the bastards or not?

6. Rove doesn't have to "turn" on anyone
All he has to do is state something in his testimony that conflicts two other's testimony. For example, stating the outing of Plame was discussed at a certain meeting, but loyally saying Bush wasn't there and didn't know about it.

Except that, under questioning, Bush did say he was at that meeting, but gives a different story for the topic of the meeting. Then a third person testifies that Bush was there, but Plame wasn't discussed at all. Enough inconsistancies like that, and an argument starts to form that a conspiracy to cover soemthing up happens. At the very least he gets people for lying to investigators.

Remember, Bush talked to investigators for an hour about this stuff. You can dig a pretty deep hole in an hour. The cover-up is always worse.

I smell an "unindicted co-conspirator" somewhere.

3. Never
Fitzgerald could catch Bush and Cheney sharing baby entrails from the still warm corpse while the mother bled to death on the oval office carpet and Dennis Hastert would be arguing on Fox News that child sacrifice was the only way to stop terra, and Brit Hume would allow that he had just bought stock in Baby Killin' Knives (TM).

5. Brit Hume can spew all he wants. Congress critters need to get elected.
Believe me they would bail on the shrub if things got bad enough.

8. Yep, Karl is no real man, he's all smoke and mirrors,
once faced with his own demise, he'll throw ANYONE out to the wolves to save himself. I've no reason to think he'd sacrifice himself for anyone else.

7. Rove is a moral coward and will do anything to save his own ass
I believe.

Who would he take down? Libby, at most. He will not resurrect his livlihood at the end of the day if he poaches the King-fishies.

9. It might come to pass that it's his livelihood, vs his life behind bars.
That would be no contest to him, do people really think he'd give it all up for anyone?

11. The Nixon/Agnew scenario with a few changes.
Rove rats out Cheney.
Cheney gets indicted.
Bush dumps Cheney.
Bush names some sympathetic but loyal Republican Veep.
Bush is forced to resign.
Sympathetic but loyal Republican Veep stalls through 2006 elections to insure a GOP victory and then issues pardons all around.
Conservative Democrat wins in 2008 or wishing to avoid having their guy play Ford to the Dems Carter, the GOP replaces Sympathetic but loyal Republican Veep with a stronger candidate who is unconnected to the previous White House and wins.

Bush and Cheney fade in to dignified retirement.

Justice is cheated but the country goes on.

12. One of the more likely theories I've seen so far...
was presented by H2O Man in this thread:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=4991110

Basically that Miller's testimony was designed to protect Cheney's office and shifted the focus back on KKKarl (and by extention, Chimp). Rove will do anything to protect himself and bush** and therefore his testimony yesterday. The theory also implies that a major rift has been created between the Bush and Cheney camps.
