6. No, he's always been in the anti-troop, pro torture corner. This
just restates his positions in a way even a moran should be able to grasp.

3. LOL hee haw and all that
This is utterly absurd. This is so stupid and obviously immoral that it should be easy for Republicans to split from Bush on this, and START THE WEDGE.

C'mon McCain, I've been rooting for you all along on this torture/AbuGraib issue. You can do it, I know you can.

27. Yes they are
And this will illustrate it all the more. And when the law comes in the new and improved Patriot Act making it where almost anyone can be declared an illegal combatant and thus worthy of torture, some of the sheep might wake up a tad if anybody can revive their brain-dead thinking.

Isn't this taking off the mask?

7. Wouldn't that be his first veto?
Torture. Of course. Maybe he wants a Constitutional ammendment to allow torture. On a regular basis.

19. This would be Bush's first veto
And it comes over an official condemnation of torture. If the Democrats can't make some political hay of THAT, it's time to just disband the party.

8. This is to please his base and shut down our argument
that this creditcard conservative has never vetoed a spending bill that has hit his desk. This will please the simple minded minions that have been promised fisal responsibility and have yet to see ANY evidence of it out of this administration.

9. Bush to stop snorting public money?
But that's his favorite drug!

And if he's voting it down because of the bill's stance against torture, oh sod it, I can't even finish this sentence.

 :puke:

What a bastard.

10. Can't you just imagine . . .
Edited on Fri Oct-07-05 10:44 AM by Richard D
. . . * sitting in his private office, watching TOP SECRET videos of torture being conducted on merica's enemies, laughing and generally getting off on it?? Not too far out of the realm of possibility, is it?

On Edit: I mean, the asshole did stick firecrackers down frogs throats and blow them up when he was a kid. Bad sign.

11. I'll believe it when I see it
GW doesn't have the courage to veto anything. It'd mean taking responsibility. he'll threaten it, but he'll back down when push comes to shove and then deny he even threatened to veto it.

14. So what do we do? Sustain or override?
Wouldn't it be interesting if a large number of Democrats happen to be out of town when the override vote goes down? Enough to keep the measure from reaching 2/3?

We'd have to shut down the Pentagon. THAT would end the war, surely. :)

Seriously, we have to join with the Republicans and override this veto. Support the troops, stop the torture.

18. Although the Senate would easily override the veto, the
smart move would be to allow the veto to stand. That would end the war in Iraq and it would have been by the Presidents own hand.

24. $50 billion more for Iraq - a digusting Democratic disgrace ...
97-0 ... the damned thing passed 97-0 ...

can you just hear all that great Democratic oratory eminating from the Senate floor ... can you hear the great Democratic visionaries demanding a timetable before they vote for more war funding? can you see them wrestling with each other to get to the Senate microphones so that they could represent the majority of Americans and Democrats who have called for withdrawal from Iraq ASAP?

the Democratic Party has truly hit a new low ... what a totally disgusting, disgraceful performance ...

good for bush ... veto this piece of crap legislation ... he may be doing it for the wrong reason but maybe he's giving the mealy-mouthed Democratic equivocator enablers another chance to awaken from their comas ...

what's the website for that Green Party ??? maybe it's time for some research ...

It passed like 90-9, or something...

Are there similar numbers in the House?
