"President Bush's job approval rating has fallen to his lowest rating ever. 37 percent now approve of the job he is doing as president, while 58 percent disapprove. Those in his own party are still overwhelmingly positive about his performance (nearly 80 percent approve), but the president receives little support from either Democrats or Independents. And while views of President Bush have lately not changed much among Republicans or Democrats, his approval rating among Independents has dropped 11 points since just last month, from 40 percent to 29 percent now."

PRESIDENT BUSH'S JOB APPROVAL

Approve
All 37%
Reps. 79%
Dems. 14%
Inds. 29%

Disapprove
All 58%
Reps. 13%
Dems. 84%
Inds. 64%

Independents are swinging the poll numbers against Bush.

1. Pubs worse/more dangerous than simply stupid -
they are stubborn, hypocritical, and blind to the truth. They are cemented in their support of a loser, with no ability to see beyond their hatred. They are simply pathetic.

2. Okay, America.... follow these directions.

If you identified yourself to the pollster as a "Democrat" and are of the 14% who said they "Approved" of the job Bush is doing, please stand up. If you identified yourself as a "Republican" and are one of the 13% of Republicans who "Disapprove" of the President stand up. Now Democrats who are standing switch places with the Republicans who are standing. Now, independents. If you are of the 64% who disapprove of the President, please stop by the Democrats table in the back of the room as you leave. If you are of the 29% who said they approved of the President, you can check out the Republican table at the back of the rom but please note that half of the people standing behind that table have been indicted for pocketing the money that you were told would pay for your lunch today. I have an announcement, there will be no lunch served today due to misappropration of funds.

4. What would it take for them to wake-up?
Edited on Fri Oct-07-05 01:36 PM by PlanetBev
Brutal rape of a child in Oval Office on video?

Stabbing Laura to death in her sleep?

Impregnating one of his daughters?

Anybody care to add to the list?

There's got to be something that will wake them up...

6. knee-jerk responses?
How many, I wonder, on either side, are knee-jerk responses? If the pollster sat down with the Republicans - or Democrats - and explained the issues, presented the facts, and then asked the quesiton - how far would the numbers change? I suspect the high approval rating among Republicans results from either superficial attention to the news - headline surfing - or from getting information from Fake News, the Oxy-moron (giving new meaning to the term Rush) and similar places.

7. I think it was Kos who said
I think it was Kos who said that Bush's approval numbers among Republicans have been in the high 80s, so dropping below 80% is tantamount to impeachment.
