Newt Gingrich blames 9/11 on Clinton asking for money for his library
I know, I know...rather than have me explain it, just watch the clip on Crooks & Liars...

Alan Colmes shuts Newt Up

NewsHounds: "With the Bush Administration up to its eyeballs in political hot water, Sean Hannity and Newt Gingrich thought the most noteworthy political news of the day yesterday was Louis Freeh's (former FBI director) new book alleging that President Bill Clinton sought foreign contributions for his Arkansas library. Hannity and Gingrich were almost giddy in their condemnations.

Video-QT

From Newshounds: But Alan Colmes argued vehemently that whatever Clinton did to seek contributions for his library pales in comparison to the breaches of security going on now in the Bush White House. Gingrich was obviously caught off guard and his smugness quickly disappeared. At the end of the discussion, Gingrich had to agree with Colmes that what's going on now is serious....read on

1. So... will they fire him?
Doesn't sound like the sort of thing they want hosts or guests doing on FAUX. You know, that whole thinking thing.

3. I doubt it - unless they have a quota on thinking.
I mean, they have Wes Clark on as their military analyst, bringing real thought and ideas to the red voters.

It may be that Wes is the only one on Faux allowed to think, though.

2. There's already a thread on this, but I'm still fuming.
Living in a right-wing county I know that it doesn't take much for these right-wingers to get all self-righteous. Their reasoning is very small-town. They will take this and run to the bank with it if someone doesn't stop them, and I'm sorry, but Colmes is not enough.

Somehow I don't think that strategy is going to work this time...

5. I must say

I don't see a problem in money coming in from foreign leaders to finance a library. Even if Bush did that I wouldn't care. What are they worried about someone might actually start to read books and get educated enough to vote for a democrat?

8. Sure is a good thing that Clinton had a fawning media and opposition
party so that he wouldn't be distracted from important issues like terrorism.

10. Gingrich told Sy Hersh after 9-11 that Bush inexplicably ignored the
Hart-Rudman Report on Global Terror that NEWT helped work on for two and a half years.

It was handed to Bush on Jan 30, 2001 and he REFUSED TO READ IT.

11. Colmes gets in a great line
he asks Newt, how about we repeal the 22nd amendment, then re-elect Clinton, then you guys can impeach him again.

it's not just clever, it makes a good point about the inanity of continuing to attack Clinton.

13. Freeh's claim is a lie
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/10/08/AR2005100801128.html

'60 Minutes' to Include Clinton Camp's Denial of Freeh's Accusations

Under strong pressure from former president Bill Clinton's advisers, CBS's "60 Minutes" has agreed to read a statement denying an explosive charge being made on tonight's program by former FBI director Louis J. Freeh.

snip-

Berger, who was at the meeting, said: "The president strongly raised the need for Saudi officials to cooperate with us on the investigation into the attack on Khobar Towers at the time when the FBI was attempting to gain access to the suspects. The president did not raise in any fashion the issue of his library."

Clinton spokesman Jay Carson said he told CBS's Mike Wallace that he had supportive accounts from five other former officials who were at the meeting, including those briefed about a private conversation between Clinton and Abdullah. Freeh was not there, and Carson said Wallace told him he had not spoken to the source upon whom Freeh relied for his account.

snip-

Carson, who called the Freeh book "a total work of fiction," said Clinton aides were not aware that CBS would report Freeh's charge about the Abdullah meeting until a Washington Post article Friday.

16. Freeh is a crotch-rubbing liar. Fuck him. He is MORE at fault ...
for 9/11 than any other official from the Clinton era.

Did I say, "Fuck him!"

I certainly hope so. :D

15. Just what we need is another Republican candidate for president
claiming it is all Clinton's fault.

You have to be responsible, you have to be responsible, be responsible, ownership society, responsible, you have to be responsible...BUT, we get to blame Clinton for EVERYTHING.

BARF.
