I think the RW's negativity about Harriet Miers is a bluff, but... |
|
this is what Alexander Hamilton said:
"He would be both ashamed and afraid to bring forward, for the most distinguished or lucrative stations, candidates who had no other merit than that of coming from the same State to which he particularly belonged, or of being in some way or other personally allied to him, or of possessing the necessary insignificance and pliancy to render them the obsequious instruments of his pleasure."
Federalist Paper No. 76 April 1, 1788
BTW, for those who didn't graduate from Harvard - Webster on line: obsequious = marked by or exhibiting a fawning attentiveness

1. Neocons came up with the idea of wedging using gay & women's rights vs. |
|
Xtians. This was only a tool to get neocons in power you understand. The real agenda was to get rid of all regulation and turn the world Ayn Rand.
Rove, in Choosing Miers, has given them exactly the pretense they hide behind... a gay hating, racists, white Xtian who will flip Roe vs. Wade.
Perhaps Rove and Bush are angry at the neocon for taking them into war on false pretenses.
Something fishy is up. The neocons are furious to actually be stuck with someone representative of the electorate they use, the very electorate they set out to use 30 years ago.
Something very odd.
Obviously the neocon intellectuals never expected the walking - talking poster child for how they get elected to make it to the top.

3. When Tony Blakley goes against ANYTHING * says, you know it is fake |
|
I can't remember when I have ever seen that him go against ANYTHING * or his misadministration did or proposed. At least, that was MY signal that this opposition was phony.

4. Hey man -I didn't go to Harvard, but still know what obsequious means |
|
Couldn't spell it to save my life, but I'll counter your Alexander Hamilton with a Mark Twain "I never had any respect for a man who could only spell a word one way."

7. To fool the Dems into believing that she is moderate. |
|
Or that the Dems won't need to filibuster. Or just to confuse the situation enough so that she will win on the vote of the whole senate. Watch - I bet she passes the committee by just one vote.
