When you are hungry, food is an issue. When you are unemployed, jobs are an issue. When you are sick, healthcare is an issue. When you are enslaved, freedom is an issue. In other words, issues are relevant to the need. Politicans talk about issues all the time. But are they really issues?

1. If they decide they need them as issues, they're issues.

The needs of the populace are not a consideration. The needs of the pols are all that count.

2. But are they really "issues" if the people do not perceive the need?

Is immigration an issue? Is the aftermath of Katrina an issue? Is the price of gasoline an issue? Is college education an issue? Which of the above is not an issue to the people but may be an issue to the politicians?

If a tree falls in a forest and one of the people hear it, it doesn't make a sound. It only makes a sound if a member of Congress hears it.

7. Then it is a false issue...

and of no benefit politically. What a few people may think is an important issue may not be an important issue to the majority of people. That is the point I am trying to make. We spend too much time on "issues" that are not that relevant to the "perception" of voters. For example, college education is a very important issue to some. But, in my opinion, it is a waste of time to try and sell this to the American voting public. Immigration reform would be a much more important issue in the "perception" of the voters. But neither Party wants to address that issue because they have no solutions or they have offered no solution.

10. Ah, so you're talking about getting pols to talk about people's needs

When people's needs are the same as corporations' needs, you'll hear pols talk about them. Otherwise, it's business as usual.

8. When people reach the point where water, food, jobs, cost of living, and

housing are scarce...or for many almost impossible to get and maintain regularly...THAT is the stuff of which change and history is rewritten on.

Until it is 'in their face' so much the average citizen can no longer ignore it...the time for change is here. And it is...almost.
