In'Santorum wants to privatize National Weather Service and NOAA
it's parent agency. WTF! If this passes, it will mean we will have to pay to get weather info YOU ALL READY PAY FOR IN TAXES!!!!

Accuweather pumps money up Santorum's ass to get this passed. This man is evil scumbag.

"To clarify the duties and responsibilities of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the National Weather Service, and for other purposes.

IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES

April 14, 2005
Mr. SANTORUM introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation"

...

"(b)COMPETITION WITH PRIVATE SECTOR- The Secretary of Commerce shall not provide, or assist other entities in providing, a product or service (other than a product or service described in subsection (a)(1)) that is or could be provided by the private sector unless--

3. Yes, and pay twice as all weather data comes from NOAA.
<http://www.noaa.gov/>

It's free for all citizens, networks, agencies to access weather data. All those cool satellite images and loops come from NOAA. Accuweater is GOP business that promotes Global Climate Change as not man made, CNN had a an accuweather Repuke jump all over Bill Nye (the Science Guy kids show) when he mentioned Global Climate change. As a precursor to many and more intense hurricanes to come. Now, Accuweater and Santorum want your tax dollars to fatten their pockets. These people need to burn rather then drown like the Katrina victims they very well may double in the future by limiting access to weather data once it has to be purchased.

2. What if its not for money? Why do they want to control info about weather?
The only reason I can think of, if you set aside for a moment the somebody's going to get rich motive, for them to wan to control info about the weather is because they want to lie about the weather.

Why would they want to lie about the weather?

Mabye it is all just about money...

4. Same reason they want to lie about body counts.
Just like Soviet Union did. When an event occured, no one knew about it, until Chernobel. That cover up blew up in their faces literally as radiation spread. However, their response did sent evacuation buses in less than 48hrs to the effected area, unlike our Gov't.

11. It ain't about contolling INFO; it's about controlling the weather ITSELF.
Santorum's effort and what follows are Beyond Coincidence, as is most everything coming out of Washingtoon lately.

Read all about Kay Hutchison's (R-Texas) bill to establish a Weather Modification Operations and Research Board, and for other purposes HERE.

14. Because they want to control the Weather and probably are controlling it.
Look up the Weather Modification Bill and call your Congressional leaders and ask them what the bill allows.

6. News flash: All NWS media contacts must go through Commerce
as in Dept. of.

So Santorum doesn't NEED a law to shut down NWS contacts with the media except through the advisories. Bush ALREADY HAS.

And you can bet on lots of speed and efficiency from the Dept. of Commerce for providing waivers when AccuWeather is reporting on the next hurricane.

10. How "national" is Accuweather's market area?
I know they are very big with PA radio & TV weather coverage, which is why Santorum shills for them, but are they used elsewhere in the country? You are right, and I have posted this before re the Dept. of Commerce gag order on NOAA, that news from NOAA would be delayed so that radio/TV/news outlets would be forced to use and pay Accuweather for info for ALL weather related stories.

7. I want to privatize Santorum
That would solve many more problems than whatever ails NOAA or the National Weather service.

8. Old news
If Accuweather "owned" the "weather" - the death toll would have been twice as high in both Katrina and Rita.

What if Laidlaw (the company that owns American Medical Response) owned the Coast Guard? People would still be on rooftops.

Remember, Mister Bill Frist's HCA owns Tulane Hospital.

13. Satanorum uses public money in Penn. to pay for his spawn's cyber tech
by claiming a residence in Penn. when he and his spawn actually live in Virinia.

Now, how credible is the pointy headed Court Jester when it comes to public policy?

http://santorumexposed.com/pages/issues/issues-tax.php

>That’s right. Between 2001 and 2004, Santorum enrolled five of his children in the Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School. Since Pennsylvania law requires school districts to pay for students who live in their district but enroll in cyber schools – and since Santorum claimed his residence was a house in Penn Hills, Allegheny County – the Penn Hills School District paid $100,000 for the Santorum children’s tuition.

But wait a minute – it turns out Rick Santorum, his wife, and their children don’t actually live in Penn Hills...in Allegheny County...or even in Pennsylvania. They actually live in a big house he owns in Leesburg, Virginia.<
