If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot
save the few who are rich. This is just one of the jewels in JFK's inaugural speech.

John F. Kennedy: Inaugural Address
delivered January 20, 1961

To those people in the huts and villages of half the globe struggling to break the bonds of mass misery, we pledge our best efforts to help them help themselves, for whatever period is required -- not because the Communists may be doing it, not because we seek their votes, but because it is right. If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich.

3. I could not get it to flow so I gave up.
I hate it when I have great ideas in my head and then they just flop on paper.

7. Good Point. Mention It To ?Right-Wingers
This is a damn good point. It ought to be mentioned to the right-wingers who are just tickled with the budget cuts to America's poor and also to the right-wingers who are b**ching about illegal immigration. Right-wing policies are turning the US from the sort of country campesinos want to emigrate TO into the sort of country campesinos want to emigrate FROM.
