Good idea but too many have day jobs, if they are lucky.

What do you propose to do? Just wondering. Are you advocating that everyone call in sick from work on one day? Are you suggesting we all go to DC or someplace? Details man, details.

4. We are still comming up with the details |
|
most of my Ideas are on my GD thread. I would've posted it hear but I don't want to get charged with spamming.
any way hear are my posts from the thread
4. Miers, the war, anything really We discuss protests other engage in all the time. I think we have enough people to start our own. we could hold simultaneous demonstrations all over the country. Washington, New York, Philadelphia, and college campuses like Harvard, berkly, and Princeton.(feel free to add to the list) If we organize this right I think we can get a lot of support. I'll need to see what other people think before I set a definite date
I have been thinking of starting a protest organization for a while. I'm thinking that groups would come to me and I would help chose a place, apply for a license, send out a press release, garner support from local businesses and provide refreshments (It will be hard for them to say that we are disturbing the peace and upsetting people if we're giving every one pizza or ice cream and cake. and it would attract more people to the demonstration)
So what do you think? "Dissent is the highest form of patriotism", -Thomas Jefferson
and one thing I learned in college is that if you want college students to arrive en mass offer free food and t-shirts. (food is generally better). and if we do it right we can get the food donated from local businesses.
And food can emphasize the theme of the protest
for instance we can use pizza or pie to protest Bush's tax cuts to the wealthy by insisting that "everyone get a piece of the (pizza)pie"
If it is against the war we can all wave flags and hand out apple pie to show that we are just as patriotic as any one else, and by that same token any veterans among us can wear their uniforms. "Support our troops, send them home" will be our cry
As for any republicans that get indicted/convicted (anyone that really got nailed by the media)we can offer them a piece of humble pie.
Oh and as far as Miers goes I haven't come up with a food yet but I was thinking if their are any lawyers among us they can hold signs reading "I'm just as qualified as Miers. Can I be nominated next?" "Dissent is the highest form of patriotism", -Thomas Jefferson
that help?

I'm not trying to sound inane. But saying "Let's protest!" without say WHAT you want to protest reminds me of some kids in my old high school. They said "Let's have a rumble!" I asked what they felt a need to fight over and they said "Who cares? Fighting is kewl!"
A protest without a clear meaning is worse than a waste of time. It just makes you look like purposeless trouble makers.
So, precisely what is it you would like to protest?

6. If we put as much effort into campaigns that we did in protests |
|
we would be in a lot better shape than we are today.
