Does anybody think Louis Freeh was given something by the Bush family in order to write his book in a way that made the Bush family look good while bashing Bill Clinton. In recent years it has been proven that Bush had enough time to stop the 9/11 attacks if he had paid attention.
In his new book Freeh somewhat says that Clinton being investigated so many times prevented the FBI from doing their job. I say somewhat it that it appears that is what Freeh said in the book, but this morning when he was interview he back tracked a little. From the interview this morning it seemed like he was trying cover his ass by writing this book. Freeh got raked over the coals by the 9/11 commission. Now he is trying to cover his and Bush's ass with this book. While bashing Clinton, Freeh claims that after the Kobar bombings it was Bush I that got the FBI access to the bombers who planed the attack. I say if they got access to these bombers why was Freeh not able to get Bin Laden or anyone else before 9/11. In addition, if they had access to these guys why was the USS Cole bombed later. It seems to me that if they got access to the Kobar bombers than other attacks should have been prevented.

2. Diversion is the only redeeming quality to this book, the next 2yrs.... |
|
there will be a list of anti Clinton material, not anti Democratic, because then they can grab the paranoid like the last two elections.

3. Freeh sez that he had to investigate numerous Clinton "scandals." |
|
Does he point out the results of his investigations? How many of the scandals were nothing more than noise emenating from the usual RW suspects? I haven't read the book. Anyone know?

4. I've heard that before, that the FBI was distracted... |
|
But I've also read that Freeh was more than enthusiastic to partake in the Clinton witch hunt. He was the goddamn director of the FBI. If he can't set the tone, direction, and climate of the FBI, who could? I also read that he more interested in taking part in mundane investigations, rather than overseeing the entire bureau. Yeah, he might as well have been a Dubya appointee.
He was an incompetent ideological boob, and now he's cashing in with a 'tell all' book that whitewashes his career. Lou, you were the nation's top cop as the nation's most tragic homocide was being planned, executed, and investigated, and you blew it. Pee-friggin'-yew.

5. Freeh told Clinton he'd get back at him... |
|
Edited on Tue Oct-11-05 01:21 PM by cynatnite
Out of the page and a half mentioning him, Clinton plainly stated that Freeh screwed up.
Here's a quote: I didn't believe Freeh was foolish enough to think the Democratic Party would knowingly accept illegal contributions from the Chinese government; he was trying to avoid criticism from the press and the Republicans, even if it damaged our foreign policy operations. I thought back to the call I had received the day before I appointed Freeh from the retired FBI agent in Arkansas pleading with me not to name him and warning that he would sell me down the river the minute it would benefit him to do so.

6. Does the book say anything about the "Phoenix Memo"? |
|
Or how he couldn't get Ashcroft to pay any attention to terrorists?
