Have questions for California DU'ers about special election...
I have not been following closely the polls numbers on Schwartznegger's power grab and that nasty anti-choice Prop. 73. Anybody know where things stand. There will be a high Fundie turnout because of Prop. 73.

6. Wellstone center pamphlet
Edited on Tue Oct-11-05 02:48 PM by wryter2000
I told a lady from the California Wellstone Center (or some such) that I was voting no on everything. She pointed out there are two things to vote FOR. 80 reregulates energy companies, and the prescription drug plan that opposes Ahnold's (79?) is worth voting for.

Editted to correct ballot measure number.

8. 80, not 81 and yes, 79 is the consumer group - sponsored bill
Please tell everyone to vote yes on 79 and yes on 80 and no on everything else.

9. Thanks.
I don't have my pamphlet at work.

I'd love to see the Enrons of this world reregulated.

7. Not no on everything
Props 79 and 80 as consumer group- sponsored bill that would provide a prescription drug benefit (79) and reregulate the electrical utilities (80). Tell your friends to vote for the last two

2. Re:Prop 73 Split even - can't remember the actual numbers
I don't think the progressives have even begun to really campaign yet, so I think the even split is a good thing. But if you have any friends in CA, be sure they know this is on the ballot and they need to go to the polls.

14. The only other poll than SurveyUSA which another poster linked to....
..is this Field poll from early Sept

http://field.com/fieldpollonline/subscribers/RLS2169.pdf

"Currently, voter opinions on Prop. 73 are evenly divided, with 45% intending to vote Yes and 45% saying they would vote No. This is not much different than voter preferences observed last June, when 48% were in favor and 43% opposed."

3. His numbers are way down
It's been amazing how many people are coming together to fight his initiatives. There is a powerful alliance between the nurses, teachers, firefighters, police, etc. against his power grab. If the election is anywhere near honest by November, which doesn't look good at this point, Arnold's gonna lose big time. We are all doing everything we can to watch the polls and the Registar of Voters as closely as possible.

10. There is even some "Recall" talk - haha, of course getting it
included onto Arnie's special election won't work, and it costs so much it takes a multi millionaire to try and grab the office for himself. I'm glad there is at least a chance that recalls can happen, even though it didn't do us Californicators any good this time. At least Davis got his wrist slapped.

4. Basically Props 73-77 are in jeopardy
because of Ah-nuld's endorsement of all those proposals-he's very unpopular right now and he's picked the worst time to have this election.

5. currently, they are all trailing in the polls
But the big ad blitz hasn't hit yet
I hope we get a good dem turnout; because OP is right; the fundies will turn out for 73.

This needs to be painted as an egotistical waste of millions of taxpayer $. And it's not. I think the public may be in some state of outrage weariness; there's just so much being perpetrated on us by * every day.

Meanwhile, the Dem party can't agree on more than they agree on, as usual. The War being number one.

11. the anti-union prop is so dumb
require unions to get 100% of members to vote before they can spend funds politically?? You couldn't get 100% of union members to turn out to vote for anything. What a nasty, evil, trick to kill unions. And to come on TV and say its to be "fair" to union members!! Evil!!!!

I don't need Ahnold to help me out with where my dues go.

12. New Survey USA polls show a surge in support for all initiatives
http://www.surveyusa.com/client/PollReportEmail.aspx?g=2acfd89d-dd50-4a58-a207-dc3e0eb76038

Right now it looks like an outlier.

But Survey USA should not be dismissed out of hand.
