What is wrong with "We were duped"
Edited on Tue Oct-11-05 03:44 PM by Check12
Will someone please explain to me why the democratic leaders are not screaming bloody murder at this point. (literally) This jerk 'D' rep I listened to this morning on the Hartman show kept saying we have to stick it out! What is wrong with these people? when are they going to realize that the American people have been played for chumps! I am at the point now, if I hear another 'D' say "we can't cut and run" I am going to lose it! I am so pissed at these cowards who can't find the cajones to say "We were lied to"? get a clue people the administration has commited treason. The buck is now stopping at the democrats door. They are harming this country by not speaking out against this criminal regime. Go ahead apologize for them and watch our democracy get flushed down the toilet.

Ok, there is my rant for the day.
Thanks DU for bieng there to hear my rant.

After reading this post I felt I needed to clarify something:
I am a loyal democrat to the end. I believe in the democratic party I want us to take back this country from these thugs, and maybe if enough people feel the same way then we can change some hearts and minds.

1. Everyone still has their Anthrax Christmas Card taped to the fridge.
Besides, they're all profiting handsomely from BushCo's Folly. Why rock the boat?

2. You're welcome
and sort of a belated welcome to DU, where you are allowed to rant like that sometimes. I agree with you by the way, for whatever it's worth.

3. They're not mutually exclusive points.
Many of the Democratic officials believe that:
A: We were lied to.
B: The Bush administration botched this thing beyond belief, and butchered tens of thousands of innocents.
C: Despite our being in there for a bad reason, leaving at this moment would have worse repercussions than staying.

You may disagree with C, but claiming you can't hold A, B, and C at the same time is ridiculous.

4. I think, like most politicians, they are afraid of being wrong.
If they were not duped, they were complicit.
If they were duped, they're vulnerable because they were stupid. (I never believed the * propaganda from the beginning - why did they?)

They see it as a lose/lose situation.

You know what? They put themselves in that position, and the honorable thing to do now is ADMIT IT! Hey! Dem politicos! Beg our forgiveness and we MIGHT re-elect you, provided you make a point of standing up to the thugs from here on out. If you can't do that, the GO AWAY and let someone in who will!

6. "Like most Americans, I trusted Bush. Like most Americans, I regret that."
That is all they have to say- instant Home Run.

7. I'd have to watch them close, because I never trusted *, but I
might give them the benefit of the doubt if they actually said that.

8. That talking point is not aimed at DUers- it is aimed at most Americans.
Most Americans before the War trusted & supported Bush.

Now-a-days, Most Americans oppose the war & think Bush is a con-artist.

The average American would agree with and sympathize with this position I suggest for DEMs.
