Today, The Terror Alert dropped to Green for nearly 5 Minutes...

At 06:47 a.m. Eastern Time, the Department of Homeland Security lowered the Terror Alert to Green. Now, don't get too excited, we weren't safe. No, as it turns out, one of the cleaning crew knocked over a cup of coffee on to the Green button station. The maintenence crews were immediately dispatched and cleaned up the mess; however, they were not sure if the equipment had been damaged. In fact, no one was sure if the green button had ever worked. One of the crew depressed the button, and for nearly 5 minutes, all across America, there was peace.

That Peace was short lived. As the feeling of Peace spread throughout the world, Dick Cheney began to experience violent fits and gasping. He reportedly grasped at his throat as if the air was being sucked out of him. Karl Rove and Jeff Gannon immediately jumped out of bed and called for a doctor. But it was Karl's keen senses that saved Dick. He could feel the peacefulness and immediately pressed the remote override button that he always carried with him. He pressed the button and the terror alert raised immediately to Orange. Dick collapsed, relieved, in Jeff's arms. As Karl stood over Jeff cradling Dick in his hands, he smiled and thought of when Mary held the dead Jesus in her arms. All was well again in America.

They keep it near the middle so they can quickly raise it if a phoney terror alert is needed during a political crisis for the administration.
