Polling Report: A Presidency On Life Support
Hope it's not a dupe:

http://pollingreport.com/whitejk.htm

John Kenneth White is a Professor of Politics at the Catholic University of America. He is the author of The Values Divide: American Politics and Culture in Transition (Congressional Quarterly Press, 2003). This article appears in the October 10, 2005, edition of The Polling Report.

A Presidency On Life Support

by John Kenneth White

The George W. Bush presidency is on life support. At first, these words seem harsh and overstated. For starters, Bush has more than a thousand days left in office. He can nominate Supreme Court justices and get them confirmed, as the 78 to 22 Senate vote for John Roberts so easily demonstrates. He also wields other important constitutional powers, including the veto which he can use to impose his will on a recalcitrant Congress. Finally, he retains considerable diplomatic and war powers at his disposal. But for the remainder of his presidency, George W. Bush will govern without the consent of the governed.

1. I wish it were life support.
It's more like autopilot, given that we can't seem to stop him from destroying our country.

I'd say he's been doing that for the past 4 years. He really doesn't care what anyone thinks. It's not a popularity contest for him. It's about the adjenda And he will do anything to get that accomplished.

He dosen't care.

edit: typos - I can't type tonight!

5. I know -- all that is fine and well but we still have 3+ years to go
and the more desperate he is, the more dangerous for us.

7. Strangely, I'm really feeling that danger tonight.
Edited on Wed Oct-12-05 10:41 PM by BlueIris
I've been pretty calm throughout the last few weeks. In agony of the disasters, the death and the despair, but still calm. Tonight has been HORRIBLE. It's a lot like what I was feeling throughout much of last April, when I was positive that Iran was right around the corner.
