Lou Dobbs had the writer of West Wing on his show. He admitted that he writes things into the show that are prompted by the political climate of the day. I suspect CIF is the same.

Even though both are TV shows, I'm sure both have some effect on the public perception.

9. This is a political fantasy show like the West Wing.

A non-partisan, can do, leader who can reach across party lines and act in the best interest of the country is most Americans' political wet dream.

Hell, a take charge leader, who's outspoken, brilliant, and well intentioned AND who has a normal family life is so far divorced from political reality that it is truly a fantasy--and the fact that the show is popular, as is West Wing, shows that there's a hunger for that sort of leader in America.

Could this pave the way for the acceptance of a woman in the White House? Sure. Does this have to be Hillary Clinton? No.

To me, Mac is a good strong leader, much like Bartlett was on West Wing. Did you find it "overboard" when Bartlett was brilliant??? Why does no one bother to ask that same question of all the millions of shows and movies that show men as super strong and brilliant leaders and heros????

There is so much embedded sexism in this country. We need about 50 shows like this one just to balance out how biased our entertainment industry is in its treatment of women.

12. I believe itis trying to portray the problems, inherently, with not

only the two Party system, but the two Parties, themselves. I think it's trying to shake America into thinking about the importance of the electoral process, and whom they vote for in the first place. It presents a scenario the ordinary American never really thinks about, and it does show that a woman can govern as POTUS effectively.

I do not, however, see a likeness between the character of the female POTUS, and Hillary at all. If anything, they're trying to help us see the wisdom of say, a Barbara Boxer as first female POTUS. Geena Davis' character does not have a huge political money-making juggernaut with political favors her husband accumulated while he was POTUS greasing the wheels behind her. She's out there alone. Big difference.
