Theater of the Absurd - (smirk's teleconference)

http://www.newsforreal.com/

-snip-

Before the conference began CNN White House correspondent, Bob Franken, said he knew the event would start soon because he could hear the assembled soldiers "practicing their impromptu responses to the President's impromptu questions."

Even the old Soviet leaders were not this obvious or ham-handed. If this had been a high school presentation it would have deserved a D grade. After one trooper delivered his lines, George looked down at his notes and replied, "Hmm, that's interesting."

-snip-

They even threw in a token Iraqi soldier whose only line was, "Mr. President, I like you." To which President George replied, "Well, I like you too." (Awww, how sweet, but remember George -- "Don't ask, don't tell.")

-snip-
-------------------------------------------

did you know one of the soldiers was Iraqi? I didn't. (why I posted this)

1. But Snottie said it wasn't scripted!
He said the soldiers could have asked any questions they wanted to. That it was totally spontaneous, and the soldiers that Bush talked to were just a random sampling.

Surely our bulldogs in the Fourth Estate will be badgering Snottie about this tomorrow, right?

2. You have got to be kidding me. How can anyone still fall for bush's....
bad theatrics. I sounds to me like it must have been kind of hilarious to listen to the "teleconference", specially "Mr. President I like you" and bush's response.

13. OMG. I'm watching it now and he's LECTURING them on the enemy.
With all his stock phrases... Now he's stammering and so obviously at sea...oh, it's painful. It's evident that this isn't even a real exchange...it's like a prerecorded thing that somebody makes up questions to and they splice it together... Oh, I love it! The female was in the middle of her script and * interjected a comment and she paused uncertainly at what she was supposed to do, then proceeded with her "spontaneous" commentary--repeating the phrase she had been in the middle of reciting. The poor soldiers are going through their motions, passing that microphone around, and Bush is so bad at this farce that the soldiers start speaking before he's asked a question so Bush has to say "Oh, go ahead"...

OMG, that was amazing. The mind reels. Whose bright idea was THAT?

15. yeah- they're getting their ASSES SHOT AT every day, and AWOL is telling
Edited on Thu Oct-13-05 01:59 PM by npincus
THEM about the enemy????? The only shot he ever took was a tequila slammer in a frat house.

BTW- Chimpy is getting MAJOR FEEDBACK in his ear! It is quite audible and that's why he keeps wiggling his earpiece.

Jesus, this is SO scripted, even CHIMPY looks uncomfortable with the stagedness. I think without Rove behind the curtain, making magic with these staged performances, Chimpy has definitely lost his stride. He looks NERVOUS. Man, the absence of Rove is painfully clear.

OMG, this is HILARIOUS. I am watching it as I type this. It's embarrassing. Who wrote the script? They should have hired actors and actresses instead of using these poor soldiers. Wow, this is as spontaneous as reciting The Pledge of Allegiance. No wonder the press was so full of contempt about the "choreography" of this event at today's Wh press briefing.

18. He's trying to appear to be talking to them off the cuff...
but the stammering makes it obvious he's being fed the script through his earplug.

20. I just noticed something funny...
Edited on Thu Oct-13-05 02:20 PM by 8_year_nightmare
At 9:05 into the video, when a soldier is giving * a lesson on how "Iraqi voter registration is up 17% -- that's 400,000 new voters", a soldier sitting in the middle row, second from left, has the giggles. He can't keep a straight face!

On edit, forget the 9:05 -- that guy is giggling throughout the whole thing!

16. Good observations!
Smirk sounded like he was talking about his own regime when he said this: "They (the enemy) stand for a vision that is…uh…doesn’t believe in freedom, that if you don’t agree with their narrow point of view that you’re subject to…uh…reprisal."

Gag me with a swastika.

4. msnbc has also been all over the 'scripted' aspects of today's idiocy
Even as I was pissed off at Scotty's obfuscation at today's prpoaganda .... er .... press conference, I was pretty happy to see that msnbc wasn't buying it.

Oz's curtain seems to be flapping in the breeze. And mix the metaphor, Ox is naked.

10. I got really ticked off when he said this near the end...
"You have every right to ask your questions, you have every right to report whatever you want, & I’ve every right to talk about what this should be about, because the American people want this to be about qualifications & record."

No, Scotty, you don’t have a right to dictate what this is all about. Your reason for standing at that podium is to answer to the American people, to answer questions that are posed on behalf of the American people. And how presumptuous of you to tell the press corps. "what the American people want."

5. That's bazaar isn't it.
Franken summed up what goes on all of the time without even realizing what he was saying.

"practicing their impromptu responses to the President's impromptu questions."

What an asshat!

8. "Mr. President, I like you." ?????? Gag me.
He is so pathetic. His handlers need to provide that fix, of approval (they can't give him a line to snort) so he won't fall completely apart in front of their eyes. Oh, it is so OOKY!

12. It's fun to see the press exposing them now, though.
Wish they had been in this mode five years ago before we got into such a mess.

19. Does Bush think his days are numbered?
Twice he commented about his time in office:

"So long as I am the president, we're never going to back down..."

"When you get back to the states, if I'm hanging around, come by and say hello."
