How many people here believe in the theory of gravity?
Edited on Thu Oct-13-05 02:11 PM by SemiCharmedQuark
Come on people...when science says "theory" they don't mean in the conventional way. Science is not about proving things. It's about failing to disprove your hypothesis. Gravity is a theory that people have failed to disprove in their scientific research. It will always be a theory. That is what makes science scientific.

On Edit: If schools start teaching intelligent design, I move that they start teaching that rainbows come from pots of gold.

On Edit II: Also, a theory can be used to make predictions. If you throw a rock up, you can predit it will come down. You can make predictions about micro-evolution.

When you state things Scientifically. The Devil created Science to test our faith so the more you prove things the more Satanic it sounds.

Cast yeah out Satan! Cast yeah out!

8. it is not a "law" it is only an atheistic theory...
the Bible says that the earth, day and night and even vegetation were created before the Sun and the Moon. the atheistic influences in science tell us that day and night are concepts that arise from the orbit and rotation of the planet Earth which is due to gravity and that the very formation of the solar system itself was due to gravitational pull. But we know that this can not be since the Sun and the Moon did not even EXIST before the earth, day and night existed. We know the Truth.

10. I'm sorry but
since the Sun rotates around the earth, that gravity stuff would have to work in the other direction. Eelephants would float off into space....women's skirts would fly up over their heads, fish would jump up into my boat.
But since that doesnt happen even with Earth as the center of the Universe, Gravity is baloney. Hey, even balogna would float off to Mars.

15. Oh, yeah, there's a theory of gravity!
I also believe that, some days, someone somewhere can turn gravity up a bit, judging from those days I find getting out of bed to be somewhat difficult.

17. No. It's Jesus' Giant Thumbtacks
After He rose from the dead, God said, "Make sure their feet never leave the ground, for they are now saved and need not leave the world."

Jesus said, "How do I do it, Dad?"

God answered, "I dunno. Got any ideas?"

Jesus answered, "I've got this box of giant thumbtacks..."

Hence, there was gravity.

22. what are the several definitions of the word "theory"?
Maybe they should start properly teaching vocabulary and correct use of language first. Nah, that would just give people more power to think. Goethe said every word is a new idea. Think about that!
