WP: one of the stranger and most awkwardly staged publicity events
Nassir's comments came near the end of one of the stranger and most awkwardly staged publicity events of the Bush presidency. It started with Bush, in Washington standing at a lectern, talking to the soldiers via video on a large flat-screen. The soldiers sat shoulder to shoulder and stared dutifully at the screen.

The president's delivery was choppy, as he gazed frequently at his notes and seemed several times to be groping for the right words. Bush told the soldiers they are facing a "ruthless and coldblooded" enemy intent on "the killing of innocent people to get the American government to pull you out of there before the mission is accomplished."

1. Hey, the Mission was already Accomplished. N.B. Washington Post
Remember May 2, 2003? Aboard the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln off San Diego? Bush in his codpiece and the big banner; "Mission Accomplished"

So what in hell could Bush have been talking about today?

the war is so over

5. I have thought of that line often during this war.
Only problem is * wouldn't consider it a sacrifice.

6. sometimes I do worry that we are having too much fun and something will
"happen" to stop it -- like using the pretense of the avian flu... We should bottle this to last us if the dark days are here again. Hope not: we waited long enough and fully deserve every second of it!

7. Bumblebee, it's not fun, it's
calling these people out. I truly believe that. RE: Avian flu, who the hell knows, our 'protectors' surely don't.
