Why I am a Plame-aholic... |
|
I manage a household. A busy, vibrant, noisy, complex household. Three active young kids, a basement that keeps flooding with all this rain we're having, a cat always crying for attention, and a husband whose long commute and semi-regular travel means I'm often manning the ship solo.
So why do I sneak to the computer while the soup is on the stove, checking in for the latest leak from Luskin or Tate? Why do I jump from dailykos to Raw Story to DU to see if we are that one step closer to indictments?
I am a Plame-aholic, obsessing over the details of each leak even though I know the only source that really matters (Fitz) is powerfully mum, BECAUSE...
at my core, I am a believer. Or in the words of a recent diary, I trust.
My hope lies with a fearless prosecutor whose only goal is the truth. I trust that his quest will lead the way out of this long, terrible nightmare by exposing to the rest of the country (the 38% still supporting this administation) that the the true motives of these people have absolutely NOTHING to do with protecting Americans and NOTHING to do with upholding the Constitution of the United States, and EVERYTHING to do with abusing power, undermining the will of the people, and operating the kind of shadow goverment where one is not bothered by incovenient things like congressional oversight and the law.More! http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/10/13/20641/936

I have mixed emotions about hearing today that Fitzgerald may extend the grand jury. That would mean great news for indictments yet bad news for me. There's only so much obsessing I can handle.

I know the importance of maintaining classified information and I know the penalty for disclosing such information. Ergo, I also am a Plameaholic, waiting patiently for the eventual penalty phase to unfold in this drama. On a subjective note, Joseph Wilson has proven himself a Patriotic and trustworthy American.

5. I have put my hopes and belief in Fitz's hands too. |
|
I often stop and wonder whether he has any clue of how many of us are counting on him to basically save our nation. He has the whole future on his shoulders and I hope he is well protected.

I'm a Plame-aholic too...
I have faith that the truth will come out. My happiness when I see movement in the Plame matter stems from my unshakable belief that truth is too powerful to be stopped in our great country. God bless our judicial system. God bless Patrick Fitzgerald.

7. Addiction is such a drag |
|
Some nights I troll for 2-3 hours from place to place seeking the perfect fix. I revisit the same old watering holes, going over the old memories again and again as a Plame-a-holic.
Alas, I'm almost afraid that Fitzgerald WILL buy another round and then I will be compelled to stay forever dying as the last customer at the Plamegate Inn.

8. I am a pathetic Plameaholic. |
|
I don't have three kids, but I have a job I need to keep. I can't think. I can't work. It's taken over my life. Normally I wouldn't let myself get my hopes up this way, and I know I shouldn't, but I can't help it, because....
they are guilty.
And the prosecutor is honest.

too (also have 3 kids, some extra water in the basement, and a couple of crying cats). Since we live 'close by' we should someday commiserate about our addiction together. PM me anytime.

17. Well said! Hey, everyone, this is IT! This is the way out! |
|
It can happen!
On November 4, 2004, I was depressed that we would have to go through yet another 4 years of needless deaths, etc. When, I wondered, would they come for my children (the draft)?
THIS IS IT! This might well be the way out! If even one high-level official gets indicted, it could paralyze this evil administration. The evil empire has already started to stumble, and there hasn't even been an indictment yet!
Can anyone count how many days (weeks?) it's been since we've seen Rumsfeld stride triumphantly and arrogantly into a press conference to tell the "dumb liberals" that war is the noblest thing ever?

Plame-aholic, since the first word came out. My children are all grown, but my grandchildren are a little ticked. My dog gets jealous and pulls at my sleeve trying to get me away from the computer. I've lived through "Watergate" - watched in horror as Iran-Contra unfolded, but this case take's the cake.
In my worse nightmare, I could not fathom that the highest level of our government could commit treason. Campaign time '04, I'm still in a fog thinking - how can you not only hide treason, but get away with it. No media coverage...so..
I'm in for the long haul, by gosh Valerie Plame and her family need justice. They not only need it, they deserve it.
