Governor Dean in Hayward, CA Sunday ...special elections propositions.
http://www.insidebayarea.com/dailyreview/localnews/ci_3119670

"Howard Dean, chairman of the Democratic National Party, will appear in Hayward on Sunday at an event organized by the Hayward Demos Democratic Club to rally members to get out and vote against all of the propositions in the upcoming special election. Phil Angelides, the state treasurer who is planning a run for governor, was supposed to speak but backed out of the appearance earlier in the week. Art Torres, chairman of the state Democratic Party, contacted the Demos and said he would show up, but with a friend.

"Art Torres kind of felt bad and said, 'Well, I'm going to make an appearance but I'm also going to bring Howard Dean.'" said Craig Williams, president of the Demos, who is out of town and will miss the occasion. "Angelides canceled for personal reasons. He will probably come and speak at a later date."

"Lots of this revolves around the special election stuff," said Harry Scott, the Demos' program director. "It's really about leading a rally on the Schwarzenegger election. Dean is going to be there for support. He will point out why we should be opposing these issues."

The "issues" revolve around Propositions 73 through 78, which would affect a variety of things, including teacher tenure, unions and the state budget."

5. What an unexpected gift..
for Dean, too.

"Though Sunday's rally is meant to raise statewide issues, local Democrats see an opportunity to press Dean on national politics.

"I would like to ask him questions about how are things going in terms of reviving the party and winning congressional elections," said Scott. "That should be our goal. This is an unexpected opportunity to talk to him."

Wonder why Angelides decided not to go?

6. Great comment from San Jose last night.
From the DFA blog last night. Dean must have flown straight to San Jose from Minnesota. He speaks in Hayward today. I am sure this person won't mind if I post this. Since I have been showing that he is changing on this issue, this brings out my point.

Denise wrote on October 16, 2005 12:36 AM:

"Tonight, among his usual talking points, Howard mentioned something that is worth repeating.

He said that when he comes to California, especially in this area, that he sees what the rest of the nation will look like by 2050. The diversity that permeates this area will be the face of all of America. Pretty hard to imagine, but worth thinking about.

Oh and when he spoke about moral values, he said that includes "supporting the troops by bringing them home" - with no usual caveat of "we can't just cut and run" this time. And that line brought the most applause of the night."

Oh, and in Chicago Friday night he said this cute Deanism....
He said people were afraid he would become part of the DC establishment, but as long as he said things like "hide the salami" they did not need to worry about that. I loved that.

7. Thank you, for telling me that, mad!
That's one reason why I like Dean so much because he's capable of changing on what should be done in this ever evolving world.

I, myself, have really come to the conclusion that we should gracefully get out now. But, with the *'s in control that's not going to happen. It will take change in Washington.

I loved Dean's explaination on Letterman of why he said "hide the salami"..I think people would have understood "three card monte" outside of New York, but it wouldn't have gotten the coverage of his inadvertant "hide the salami"! :D
