Rove to resign if indicted: Just heard on news break of Late Edition
According to a Time magazine article.

WH decided he'd either step down or take a leave.

1. Oh PUHLEEZE!
Just like Richard Pearle "stepped down", and Karen Hughes "stepped down". Only way we remove these people for real is to THROW THEIR ASSES IN JAIL.

4. I don't make the news, I just repeat it or report it
I said a long time ago that he might well still function in his position even if he leaves DC.

8. Don't you get it?
The WH is preparing for indictments. If the WH expects indictments of Libby and Rove and are announcing this can there be any doubt that Fitz is going to nail them?

The quesion is will Crashcart resign if he is indicted? Will Chimpy resign if he is cited as a target?

10. If it's a trial balloon, it's a pretty darn strange one.
It means that if Rove is indicted, the WH will have to follow through with their "trial balloon". It seems more a statement of policy.

11. It also sets up the expectation that Rove is looking to spend time with
his family, even if he isn't indicted.

13. I love that one.
They ought to use that one. Wait a minute? Does Rove even have a family? Who are they? The Munsters? Or maybe that family from the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre"?

18. Your questions are excellent "next questions".
If anything, I think the White House is just preemptively answering questions they know they are going to be asked anyway.

But I like your second set of questions: "The quesion is will Crashcart resign if he is indicted? Will Chimpy resign if he is cited as a target?" Now that the Rove/Libby question is answered, let's hear the press ask about Bush and Cheney.

12. So they are going to follow through on a pledge for once?
This strikes me as "not news" news & trying to cover their asses.
I thought the pledge all along (or at the beginning) was that if someone got indicted they would resign -- the pledge or expectation.
Now they are trying to act like it's something new?
Like I say sounds to me like they're trying to control the impact.

I love watching them squirm.

I don't think he'll be able to handle it.
