We won't run from Iraq, as we did from VietNam.....did dubya really say? |
|
Can't find his weekly speel online, and got this from > http://www.aljazeera.com/cgi-bin/news_service/middle_east_full_story.asp?service_id=9685 . Sounds like something he'd say to promote his war of choice and round up the sheeple into frenzied stampede. Also headline http://www.aljazeera.com/cgi-bin/news_service/middle_east_full_story.asp?service_ID=9675 about Gitmo detainees sue dubya. Gist of this post is..............why isn't this info being passed along in the MSM? Same ol pap there about Harriett and Condi "thinks" the charter in Iraq passed. Just a bunch of WH drivel as our news. Dammit I'm sick of having to read the world to get the news.

1. As quoted in your subject line? Yes, he did. |
|
Try to find someone who cares anymore, though. Bush being obtuse isn't news...

4. Yeah, but Bush being stupid ought to make the news. |
|
What is this bull about him and Viet Nam? He ran, but he's just fine sending troops to get killed in Iraq because it's for his PNACy ideals. 1975 dead, and he's still spewing crap. The man is obsessed.

6. Please don't call them the "MSM." There's NOTHING "mainstream"... |

...about their twisted agenda of greed and manipulation. Please call them what they are - the Corporate Media.

8. Another bush insult to the american people |
|
He didn't participate in Viet Nam nor did he give it much thought according to comments from people who knew him then. Now he says we are going to finish this war in spite of our citizenry. He now is the tough guy, wish he had been 30 years ago! Maybe he would have gotten a clue in 2003 and again now that he screwed up. Nope.

9. This is such an interesting quote. |
|
"We won't run from Iraq, as we did in VietNam". Let's analyze this.
This gives us some clues about Bush's thinking.
First off, we did not run from VietNam. We got ourselves into a quagmire that was pulling us deeper and deeper into the abyss. The American people spoke. It took 10 long years for them to realize this was a suicidal sink-hole and we needed to get out. I believe the generals, up to the very last day, believed they could "win". They were willing to sacrifice our entire country just to have their damn victory.
I believe they decided to withdraw because the options were narrowing, and we really didn't have many choices left. So it was seen as the best option on the table. We could have stayed a couple more years, and sustained thousands more dead, and a bankrupt treasury. So we didn't run. We elected to get out at the 11th hour.
So now Bush feels that he can do a "better" job in Iraq. Sound familiar by now? It does to me.
I can see the Little Boy, sitting behind the desk in the Oval Office. He believes HE won't fall into those traps like we did in VietNam. THIS TIME, it'll be different. We'll smoke those bastards out, for good. We'll blast every damn village to Kingdom Come. There won't be any terrorists left in Iraq because they'll all be blown up.
As things start to turn to shit, Bush get sweaty. He looks desperate. "Just a few more months, I know we can do it". "I just know we can win this...."

11. didn't the "Zawahiri" "letter" to "Zarqawi" use the exact same language? |
|
Edited on Sun Oct-16-05 05:45 PM by democracy eh
the letter that Al Qaeda in Iraq has supposededly dismisses as a fraud?
"running from Vietnam?"
isn't it odd to borrow phrases from a supposed terrorist letter? were both the speech and the letter written from the same speaking notes?
