Poll shows Tim Kaine (D) leading 47%-45% (Va Gov Race)
(from email)

Kilgore negative ads backfiring as Kaine's support grows

Today we want to share with you some very, very good news about this campaign: a new statewide Survey USA poll commissioned by WSLS News in Roanoke and WUSA News in Washington shows Tim Kaine leading Jerry Kilgore 47% to 45%.

Watch the news stories online.

The poll, conducted October 15th and 16th, shows several important developments in this race:

Since the first Survey USA poll in this race in March, Tim Kaine has gained 11 points, while Jerry Kilgore has lost one. In just the last month, Tim has gained four points while Jerry lost one. That means that Tim’s positive message of keeping Virginia moving forward by building on the progress made under the Warner-Kaine administration is resonating with Virginia voters.

Because this poll was taken just this past weekend, we know that Jerry Kilgore’s dishonest negative ads are backfiring on him. With no positive message to deliver and voters tired of politicians who sacrifice honesty for political advantage, Jerry Kilgore’s support has fallen while Tim Kaine’s has continued to rise.

Virginia’s moderate and independent voters overwhelmingly favor Tim Kaine. Tim leads 63% to 29% among moderates and 50% to 38% among independents.
This is outstanding news for our campaign. It shows that Tim Kaine’s message is resonating with Virginia voters while Jerry Kilgore’s negativity and lack of credibility are turning voters off.

We all know that polls that show us in the lead one day can show us behind the next. With this poll showing only a 2-point lead, now is the time for all of us to make sure that all Virginians hear the good news that Tim Kaine has to tell.

1. As a longtime Virgin,
I must say, this asswipe Kilgore is running the filthiest campaign I've ever seen here in Mr. Jefferson's commonwealth.

Pandering like a crack whore looking for pocket change - that's the "Good Christian" Kilgore.

Unbelievable, some of these ads having to do with - of all things - the death penalty.

Kaine will do all right. He's certainly got my vote.

4. OLL...need some info to help convince relatives there to vote Kaine
I'm going to a wedding this weekend. I know my BIL will vote for Kilgore. But I can convince my sister. I'd like to know more about Kaine so I can talk intelligently to them about his candidacy. Any ideas? What do you like about Kaine?

2. I'd be very wary of close polls as much of Northern Va. and
Norfolk use the new electronic voting machines with no paper trails and no way for an honest recount.

8. If Kilgore is elected, I will be depressed.
The man is a despicable moron of epic proportions.
