OH YEAH!! Brand New Survey USA poll with State by State approval ratings
Edited on Tue Oct-18-05 02:37 PM by DemsUnited
The best, most comprehensive monthly poll out there (my opinion) shows the chimpster in a world of hurt. One of my favorite numbers: Texas at 42 approve, 54 disapprove.

You read it right -- TEXAS!!!

And there's a whole lot more where that came from at:
http://www.surveyusa.com/50State2005/50StatePOTUS1005SortedbyState.htm

On Edit: Weighted average is 38/59 which is the fourth or fifth poll in last few weeks that has B* under 40.

The LA #'s are flawed because they can't poll a single person who used to live in New Orleans, which was a large segment of LA's total population.

55. New Orleans can't be properly polled
Those who lost their homes can't move back to New Orleans. Those who lost their homes tend to be the ones who didn't approve of Bush before Katrina and certainly don't approve of him afterwards. New Orleans is the only liberal bastion in Louisiana. It's actually quite amazing that he doesn't even break 50% in the state without New Orleans.

Mississippi and Alabama are somewhat in the same situation, although both of those states are far more conservative to begin with.

38. The states where Bush leads must all have huge lockstep...
JesuNazi majorities. I knew that is true of North Dakota, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska, Oklahoma: by some strange perversion of reality, farmers and ranchers -- who of all people should know better -- are often vicious Fundamentalist zealots -- the reason "God's country" is invariably Klan Kountry. But Alaska surprises me: literally everybody I know from there is either an agnostic, an acknowledger of the Goddess (whether practicing or not), or -- most likely among the back-woodsers -- someone who has adopted American Aboriginal spirituality (in response to the presence with which the whole Pacific Northwest wilderness yet resonates -- even sometimes glows). As Gary Snyder puts it:

Raven on a roost of furs
no bird in a bird-book,
black as the sun.

Though it actually surprises me a bit... The * supporters I know are just as defensive of Shrubbie as they ever were, and the "W '04" stickers seem no less common than before the election. I'm not complaining, though; I'm assuming it's the more middle of the road and less political people who are waking up to Shrub's ineptness; the "true believers" are a lost cause.

I don't live in Bunning's district. He covers the areas separate from Louisville. You have to remember, this state is full of fundies and white trash but they don't represent all of this state (Kerry took Louisville somewhat handily.)

But, even Louisville has more than its share of fundies. We're home to the $100 million+ Southeast Christian Church and another mega-million, mega-church that was home to that infamous "Justice Sunday" event. There's also that Creationism museum in northern Ky. near uber-conservative Cincinnati, OH.

I like the sentiment, too. I want everyone who will vote for our side on election day. Vote early, vote often, and vote straight Democratic. It's so easy, and it saves time.

That is a great resource you posted a link to. While it won't translate entirely in congressional elections, this shift has to pull some seats away from the Pubs.
