I do NOT want Cheney to resign .......
...... as the press is now speculating: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=102&topic_id=1858849&mesg_id=1858849

We need every one of these evil motherfuckers either in office or indicted/on trial/in jail so we can tie them to every RW wacko running in 06. A resignation would distance them from the 06 candidates ... maybe just enough so these shitbirds can get reelected.

With the brewing shitstorm about to hit the Republicans like they not been hit since Watergate, they'll be ill-equipped to ram their extremist agenda through (assuming, of course, the Democrats actually stand the fuck up and do their job).

1. Which is a risky assumption.
Sorry, I want these people out, now. The people who supported them will not escape accountability.

2. I agree...keep him on a tight leash and on display for 2006 races
Exhibit A for why the Repugs will get their ass kicked.

On the other hand, Cheney having to resign may trigger even more bad news for the Chimpministration and the effect could be even greater than having to "manage" Dick.

3. I don't see how his resignation would encourage Republicans
Their agenda is dead regardless.

7. exactly.
We will get what the right wing couldn't do to Clinton - a senior official removed for corruption. IUt;s a gigantic vivctory and fodder for 2006 and 2008.

5. I do not think it makes any difference.
I really do not think that this affair stops at Crashcart. Certainly, if Crashcart goes down, many staffers will go with him. It means that the Chimpy McCokenose is in jeopardy. KindaSleezy may catch some of it, too.

The White House is going to be in total upheaval regardless of whether Crashcart resigns.

6. You have to be joking!!!!
If Cheney resigns it ENFORCES the culture of corruption image much more so than if he was kept onboard.

8. Dems have not stood the f*ck and done their jobs since 9-11 and
therefore are mostly complicit in the malfeasance, misfeasance, and nonfeasance, including pre-emptive based mostly on seemingly pure fabrication and the emasculation of the Bill of Rights IMHO.

10. Yeah, they should have used their majority and constant media attention
to run this country better, right? Hell, we can blame the Dems, the Greens, the Libertarians, the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus for everything, it's about the same thing.

13. Dems could have and should have vociferously opposed every disastrous
law, policy, action, and other initiative IMHO instead either supporting them or saying/doing nothing. The fear of being labeled has rendered them virtually neutered, void, and voiceless.

16. They did, and you and the rest of the nation ignored them. Blame
yourself. I'm sick to death of Dems being bashed when the only thing they've done wrong is be out of power. And part of the reason they are out of power is because of all the uniformed, ignorant voters who run around screaming about pink tutus and DLC and other bullshit. You either vote Dem, or you are the enemy, it's that simple. And if you don't think the Dems are shouting at the top of their lungs about all of this crap, you need to get on a few more lists. They aren't in power, so the media doesn't bring their message to your door, so you think it's not out there.

It's a democracy. Want to make a difference? Get out there and make one. Quit whining because others without the power to make a difference aren't able to make miracles. Yeah, you can always find Dems who for some reason or another vote on the wrong issues, but you'll also find that almost every time the only people voting on the right side of an issue are the Democrats.

This is Democratic Underground. Not Whiney, Lazy, Ingrate Underground.

14. If he resign and condi takes over
It means they will want her to be the repug prez candidate for '08. If she steps in now she'll be going down with the ship too. So I say step right up condi.

15. If Cheney resigns, I assume that his replacement
will be the designated Repuke candidate for '08. That could be either good or bad. Good in that it means that we'll have some idea as to what we're up agains. Bad, in that the Pukes will be spared a real primary process and will be able to focus all their energies on remaining in power. Unless something crazy happens and there's a revolt among the Repuke rank and file.

I've always kind of assumed that he would be replaced at some point by the next designated heir. I don't think that they like to leave anything to chance.
