If Dickless steps down as VP...
...who will replace him?

Will Hastert automatically fill that position? Or will the Chimp make his own decision?

1. Think back to Watergate...
The President nominates a replacement, who must be approved by the House of Representatives.

10. If that's how it works
he could name any right wing loon to the post.
They'd get automatically elevated by the repub controlled house.

13. Close
Both houses must approve, by a simple majority in each house.

2. Hastert is in line to the presidency if
both Cheney and the Chimp were out. However, the Chimp can name anyone he wants to be vp.

6. Who Does He Owe A Favor

or like the best?

Sometimes it seems like kids picking team mates for an afternoon baseball game put more thought into their choices than Dubya does into his.

3. After the whole regime is frog-marched out in cuffs
and the whole House & Senate leadership suffer similar fates, the list of replacements starts to thin.

4. Dubya Picks
Confirmed by Congress. If something happens to Dubya before he can make his pick and have it confirmed by Congress, then it would be President Hastert.

5. Condi?
Someone told me today that they heard bu$h would most likely promote Condi Rice if dickless stepped down.
Does anyone have any knowledge of this being said on any talk shows or elsewhere?

7. I've heard it said, but only by people who don't know for sure...
Obviously, no one in the Bush administration is going to come out and say Condi's the choice if Dick steps down. Doing so would be a public confirmation that Cheney might step down.

8. Condi as VP
If Condi becomes the VP, I'm quitting this country and move to Canada.

9. Wouldn't it make the most sense to pick someone who might run in 08?
Edited on Wed Oct-19-05 11:25 AM by spunky
I mean, Condi keeps saying she won't run, and I must admit, I tend to believe her.

I would think they'd see this as a golden opportunity to tap the person they'd like to have replace Dubya. . .

14. Would it flip any of you out is he chose Jeb?
Edited on Wed Oct-19-05 12:34 PM by Totally Committed
His history of surrounding himself with people he knows and feels he cn trust, no matter how wrong the choice is to other people, tells me it could be.

Next choice would be either Condi or maybe his Mom. They both worship and adore him (all the qualifications needed...) Whomever he picks will be the sitting VP going into the primaries and will have incumbancy on their side. Not fair to our side, or maybe it is... depends on whom he picks!

So, would it flip you all out if he chosr his own brother? I remember the fuss when JFK chose RFK for his Cabinet....

"Most brilliant man I've ever met" and all that. Talk about worship and adoration.

17. I also think he could pick Jeb
This is the golden opportunity to bring Jeb to national prominence in the White House without first having to get the Presidential nomination. It's an opportunity the Bush family just can't pass up. They will proclaim that Jeb is an outsider, who wasn't involved in either the Iraq or Plame messes. I'm sure the Bush family's political machine is cringing at the thought of McCain getting the GOP nomination in 2008.
