What would happen if you banned generic terms like "Liberal"
and "Conservative" as being inflammatory and meaningless? What if someone like Rush Limbaugh had to make arguments based only on their merits and not their alignments with his (mis) or interpretations of political sympathies.

There is this big broohawhaw going on right this moment with Ed Shultz not being allowed on Armed Forces Radio. What if Armed Forces Radio, in the interest of being unbiased, told all future radio hosts that they could not identitfy themselves as either liberal or conservative but could only discuss the merits of individual issues based on their individual merits?

What if all TV and radio did this? WoW! think for a moment - no identifier - speaking for the right - Joe Pitbull, speaking for the left- Katrina Hierique. Just the issues! Just the facts! What a pipe dream!

1. "What if
someone like Rush Limbaugh had to make arguments based only on their merits and not their alignments?"

Simple, their heads would explode.

5. I'm not so sure about that
Ever read 1984? The ability to hold two mutually incompatible ideas in one's head in a single moment and be simultaneously committed to both of them is called "double-think," and it's a talent the RW talk-show shills have been uncannily good at for many years. I don't think it's possible for Rush's head to explode, with the possible exception of his reacting to something sensible said by a Democrat.

2. I am a Liberal and PROUD of it
Progressive is just the latest attempt at softening who we are. We are who we are I am who I am, and I'll be damned if I'll let anyone try to change that. Our names draw the line in the sand with the Cons, never forget that.

And because we're weak, the Cons poisoned our great name and cause.

Not any more. Conservative means corrupt and propagandist, and corrupt Conservative propagandists will not tell me how to frame my arguments.

Never again. By 2006, we'll have the House and Senate and will neuter those Corrupt Conservative propagandists forever. Watergate was a tea party. Off with their heads.

4. How about adopting the presidential administration whose policies you
endorse: Clintonian, Rooseveltian, etc.

Nah, sounds clumsy.

Keeping in line with American history, calling yourself a neo-New Dealer, or a neo-Muckraker, etc.

Nah, majority of Americans don't know their own history.

Thanks, but I think I'll stick with liberal. It's a nice fit.

6. I'm a Liberal. Liberal. Liberal. Liberal. Liberal. Liberal. I love that
word. I will use it the rest of my life. I don't drop words just because the GOP decided it included too big a tent and they wanted to slice & dice our big Dem tent.

You can drop it if you want. I am a liberal!!

8. "Hillary!" "Feminazi!"
One can always take a word and make it inflammatory. Especially if talking to the "Me Tarzan, You Jane" crowd that can be lost with too many words and syllables.
