Quinnipiac - Corzine leads 50-43 over Forrester, NJ gov race

Even right leading Quinnipiac has Corzine up 7 over Gump Forrester. It's finally nice to see my state end its flirtation with this dweeb and give Corzine a nice lead with about 3 weeks to go in this very important gubernatorial election.

JERSEY CITY — Both major-party gubernatorial candidates downplayed results of a Quinnipiac University poll released yesterday that showed U.S. Sen. Jon S. Corzine, D-N.J., holding steady to his lead over Republican Doug Forrester.

The poll showed Corzine leading, 50 percent to 43 percent, up from 48 percent to 44 percent in the Quinnipiac poll about one month ago. Any gain, however, was within the poll's 3.7 percentage point margin of error.

"The only poll that counts is Nov. 8," Corzine said. "We're not taking any particular poll and saying that's definitive, because it isn't."

Forrester, at a campaign stop in Newton, was still confident he will win.

"We've got a race that is unbelievably close," Forrester said. (yea right, you're sinking like a stone, gump)
The onslaught of television ads being bought by both campaigns is increasing the amount of people who believe both Corzine and Forrester are not honest and trustworthy, said Clay Richards, assistant director of the Quinnipiac polling institute.

"There are two things going on here," Richards said. "Independent voters who make up their minds later are swinging to Corzine as they typically switch to the Democrat in New Jersey. And negative advertsing is hurting both about equally."
