Our image in Old Europe is very tarnished !

I had a disturbing phone call from a German friend today.

He apologized ahead of time for sounding callous in telling me that in his surroundings he hears people expressing sadness about our troubles with hurricanes and destruction.
Yet he also hears that they express relief about us having to tend to our own troubles, and therefore may not have the energy and money to continue bringing trouble to the world.

They see us as instrumental in so much destabilization with our foreign policies, that they fear we will bring about World War III.

We'll bomb the hell out of countries while reducing our standard of living. It seems to make zero difference that we had no reason to bomb other coutries. Gollie, all we ever got was corporate gains to a never before realized profit.

4. your friends are partially right.

ww3 would not bother some in power in this country -- though i think that they worry more about china than the mideast.

i think part of pentagon insanity and conservative insanity is to have continuous conflicts to show china we are ready.

but whatever it is -- too many in power are off their rocker.

in addition -- i hope your friend is just as worried about the corporatization of europe. it is after all part of what is driving loonyness here.
